Every year around Christmas time Latvian Academy of Art organizes a market, called Jarmarka. Interestingly, the title of the event comes form Russian - it means a fair.
This is the place where you can have a peak at what is going on in the Latvian Arts scene from the point of view of the art students and of course, you can also buy any artwork you can find there. Well, you can buy it is an overstatement, you have to have enough money to do so cause some pieces go as high as thousand euros. Hey, but you can find affordable art too, after all art is for everyone. :)
My favourite one was this artist, that uses this very interesting technique of painting. Some seriously original stuff. Unfortunately, I did not write down her name.
The place was overloaded with art work. Together with the gothic style of the building (The Art Academy itself) the setting was filled with creepy (in a good sense) vibes.
P.s. It is very difficult to keep up with regular posting now that I am in Latvia and have so many people to see and so many places to visit. I've gathered many stories by now so I will be posting them when I have a bit more free time. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy our photo story posts.
Hope you have dancing shoes ready for the New Year! We definitely have! :)

I like the work you mentioned. It has an almost 3D effect. Could this be the artist? http://www.pictame.com/tag/AlvineBautra
