Black Panther is finally in theatres and the film is receiving massive support from all over the world. As usual, like every comic book movie, the standalone film also had several easter eggs for fans to spot. But did the audience notice a special reference just for the fans in India?
The character known as M’Baku played by Winston Duke was the one to present the interesting Easter egg for the Indian audience. At one point in the film, M’Baku shouts out “Long live the Glory to Hanuman” making a reference to an Indian origin god.
Unfortunately, the word “Hanuman” was muted in India’s theatrical release print. While many may have confused it to be a swear word, M’Baku, in fact, says Hanuman. Hanuman is a Hindu deity who has the face of a monkey. He is well-known for his strength attributes and he is certainly an interesting reference to be placed in Black Panther.
M’Baku is the leader of a clan known as Jabari, one of the tribes that exist in Wakanda. Fans who have watched the film would have already seen them in action and display their courage and strength. Furthermore, since M’Baku is also the ruler of Gorilla City, the Hanuman Easter egg was a perfect choice.
