Here We Go!

The much anticipated United States elections arrive this week which will truly be historic. I have never seen the passion for elections in the United States like this before. The amount of peopIe out representing their candidates in the effort to convince others or show their strength has been interesting to see. I have seen it when I used to live in the Caribbean as the ideologies have always driven the rhetoric and the sides are always chosen. While we have seen instances of it going too far, I think it is a fair amount of passion given the repercussions on the outcome.

It will be quite impactful given all that is unfortunately happening in the world with wars and much uncertainty despite the seeming advances that technology continues to bring humanity. I imagine there has been other times in history when things have been just as challenging but given the way information spreads and is available due to the internet is unique in the timelines. We also have had a bit of more stability during the last generation which I have grown up in which helps makes things less tense.

I will be mostly a spectator of history as it is what interests me the most because in the end we need to support the best for each other no matter the results. I will be trying to sit tight and navigate carefully where I get my information as I know it will be skewed with opinions. I am expecting that it will take time to really know the outcome so will try not to lose to much sleep during the week as it continues to be a busy time around me. Things will come in from all angles so patience will be warranted.

Passion will make things noisy as well particularly when things go unexpectedly. My hope is that common sense will persist so that we can look out for each other as in the end, we all belong to the same world. We have been through adversity in the past and I I think that is where humanity shines; finding a way to figure things out for our future (even thought it is more a short term focus). I am sure it will feel like a whole other sports league!
