REDFISH EXPERIENCE: CONTINUITY

I wrote this two days ago

Prior to this time, my assumption was that people who weren't posting were on discord chatting or in a live chat, discussing the future of steem, the old same redundant conversation people never get bored of. Well, I just happen to check some servers that are usually active at this time and there is nothing going on. My timeline is basically the same so at least this serves as a motivator so I can write something. I am not trying to complain or anything. I believe this is normal. Christmas is right about the corner and people are reconnecting with their real lives and people they care outside the steem blockchain, while those of us who do not have lives, like me, outside this platform are here complaining (that's what you're doing Nonso).

Well, this morning (it is 12:37 a.m here) I did something I feel I might regret. I withdrew my delegated steem from a friend who I have been trying to support for some time now. Well, I cared about this person deeply. I used 'cared' because we don't have much of a relationship anymore. Notwithstanding, I still want her to win here; I want her to be as fascinated about steem and its potentials like I am. But it seems she doesn't see the big picture as I do and I do not blame her. Most of my Nigerian friends are basically here for the cash you know. That's why I am so mad at most Nigerian communities as they do nothing to correct this wrong perception.

It is more than money

Don't get me wrong, I m here to earn, primarily. I have no shame admitting this to myself or anyone else. I hope someday I can live off my earnings from steem or at least achieve some of the projects I have in mind, which I will talk about in a dtube video later on today. But it is much more than that--steem is more than that. I was watching @theycallmedan video the other day where he spoke about the potential of bitcoin and steem.

"There is no platform doing what steem is doing."

Those where his words I think he said, and I couldn't help but feel lucky to have stumbled upon this platform. Even as steem price keeps dropping I cannot help but be optimistic about the future of steem, which is not so dependant on just one individual or community. This is a diverse blockchain that brings different people together. As I explore dapps, I have begun to see different facets of this platform, something you may never notice or appreciate if you are stuck in one aspect of this blockchain. You can sense how excited I am about steem, so maybe you will understand how frustrating it is when I see people who do not have the drive I have about the steem blockchain.

I think what pains me the most is seeing people like myself who haven't purchased any steem complain about the price of the coin and hodling their content because of it. Before now you were sharing your thoughts and spending your time on meaningless things on Facebook/Twitter. Now steemit comes along and suddenly you have a sense of what value is and what your time is worth. The blockchain is going through a phase now and you've opted out so easily. But you still have the time to post pictures on facebook for free. I really do not understand people like this. It is irrational in my own opinion. A part of me dies when I see people share their contents for free, whilst someone else is gaining from the information they give out for free. Facebook has not sent you a penny before but you use their platform. "But I have friends and family there?" You might say, but why not bring them here? There is a lot they can enjoy here, just paint the right picture to them.

Continuing this article after dumping it for two days

I have gotten over the fact that many people are not willing to give their best. They want it easy. My life hasn't been easy and I must say that's one of the reasons I am still here. Everything seems to be going south--that is perfectly fine. It is life for you. Secondly, I cannot force people to see my vision or the bigger picture, I can only show them and if they choose to interpret it differently then that's just fine you know. I am on to something I believe. The drive is there and I can see things taking shape gradually and I cannot be anything but excited at this point. It is just sad that I will be leaving some people behind.

Sort:

i'm with you @nosowrites, Though I'mnot really understand about the crypto and blockchain, but I really have a good time here, not for the money but a free acces to read everything out of my reach, for free.. LOL.
I still use facebook but just to let my family and friends who don't have any courage to start with steemit, Yet! beside, accessing facebook is not really free, it charged you if you want to see the photos through your mobile data internet if you don;t use wi-fi.

If only some people know how wonderful being here on steemit (including steemmonsters) and what they can earn even with the steem price at lowest stage as right now. Keep showing others about your visions, one day they will see!

Keep showing others about your visions, one day they will see!

I certainly will. Thanks for stopping by

It is a bit sad when people don't have that interest, especially when they are given the opportunities you didn't have at the start, because you knew no-one. My hubby not only had me to teach him the ropes and my guaranteed vote, he even impressed a couple of others so much that he got 1000SP delegated to him and the regular vote of someone much bigger than I. He lost interest as soon as he found work again and it was waning even before that.

I do wonder if it's easier to get more eyes on Facebook and that is another reason people revert back to it. Especially as things are quiet here. Their network is already there and it's not as straight forward to get to know steemit, so bringing that network over isn't easy.
