Earlier in the season we had our first nest built in a kiteboarding harness. Now there is another one!!, and this one with eggs! Unfortunately, it is built into a brand new harness that we have to use for lessons! We are going to try and carefully move the nest to see if we can do so with out traumatizing the bird parents so much that they will not return to the nest for their young.
My idea is that we will carefully move the nest to a different harness. A old beat-up harness that we do not need to use for lessons. And as long as we don’t move it too far from where it was before then the bird parents will hopefully still stay with their three little eggs.
I know that growing up we were always told to never touch a baby bird because the mother will abandon it if you leave your human scent on it. This is simply NOT TRUE and will hopefully not be true with the nest with eggs.
