Great that you plan to make the code available... I'm playing with some "bot-idea's" myself but I only have knowledge in PHP, mysql, CSS... I can make "something" in javascript... but very limited and it doesn't always do what I expect :-)
In what language are you programming? I believe Python is often used in steem-projects...

I am using python which is quite similar to PHP and javascript. If you go to udemy.com or codeacademy.com you can find some courses and you should be able to make your way through it
