Skeleton

an hourglass holds time
plankton blooms, expires
settles as deathly remains
land shifts, flows and raises
waves and rivers, abrades
and fractures
abyss dwellers brought to Earth
diatom skeletons ground to sand
heat and sun wring out the wet
eons dwindle life
the wind necromances
a death jeté
across the Gulf
the veil lifts, falls again
seeds sprout, roots spread
flowers bud, a forest breathes
an hourglass holds time
We can thank diatoms ... a play on the vss365 prompt of atoms for today's poem. Diatoms the little skeletons that make up sand, never stay in one place, and feed forests far-flung. So today we have a Halloween and science(biology) theme; and given we are all made of stardust ... the diatoms of exploding stars ... well ... do you see the mystical connections? Patterns perhaps in a simulation? The Ai image took a lot of prompting and I still didn't quite get what I wanted but I like it all the same:)

Godzilla Versus the Borg

undead; live
from the simulated
legislative assembly
the ancient lizards
armed with fossils
petrified wood
carbon credits
commodify, combust
ancient-filthy lucre
the cyborgs wield
weaponized nano-syringes
cancellations, hypocrisy
fear, exclusionary
binary barcodes
a seemingly virtuous
a prison of division
the radioactive
tyrannosaurus
defends your right
to deny evolution
the android horde
shields itself in science
degrades organic
myelination
synapses dissolve
electrical signals
flow unimpeded now
of any meaning
the reptiles
the quick silver men
through mutually-beneficial
sadomasochistic symbiosis
conduct, ant-viral operations
splicing obsolete vectors
Yes, it is getting dark around these parts, literally, and figuratively. Autumn is slowly pushing the sun closer to the horizon and Halloween is rapidly approaching it is also Sci-Fi Saturday, and so I submit for you consideration (Twilight Zone) this sci-fi, horror inspired analogy; any similarities to reality are in your imaginations. This poem was posted previously; but I have jigged it some.

Spineless

stay above the surface
among exposed roots and rivulets
mangroves tops and moss carpets
float down channels and canals
manmade or the best example
of Martian engineering
carve up the world
savannah or desert
a dried up plain of baked earth
where a droplet is a well
where torrents used to flow
and now the land caves in
flake by flake
time's fingerprints dissolved

or get stuck in a muddy mess
swamps and bogs
an other such novelty environs
hold your ground with sticky tenacity
there is no protection
in a world that has stopped moving
no distraction and only the presence
of all kinds of predatory things
but in the water
keep an open mind
a soft touch
standing your ground
dams up the flow
gets you stuck in the gutter
so put up your feet
let go and give way
no shell
no scaffolding
now that is what I call
fearless living
even a still pond does a ripple
takes on an ornate solar reflection
glare convergence offers safe passage
keeps those with a taste for the vulnerable
otherwise occupied with shiny mirages
hovering in aqua-space
constant ciliation
flamboyantly tender
doggedly persistent
finlike solar sails
sparkling anodized, fleshy hulls
whiskers in all directions
never intimidated by harder things
spineless
