Open Up and Say Ahh

Open Up and Say Ahhh
analogs disengage, evacuate
flutter away to the unseen
glitchy, imagined code joints
within the web of existence
okay, I will say it
although it has been
said enough
they fly away
come to nest
within the matrix
spiders don’t fly
they don’t need to
that cocoon
another has spun
it’s your final dissolution
no papillon metamorphosis
planned-out and neatly-packaged

she was dressed in silk
when they laid her to rest
how nice, how elegant
rich and utterly delicious
spiritual egotism
or rampant materialism
venom or decay
hemlock or scurvy
nightshade or rickets
keep your red pills
and blue ones too
I’m on a no placebo diet
they give me nightmares
and day terrors, flatulence
itches and chills
things gotten a little dark ...
then I will end on a positive note
open up and say ahhh

I know its dark; we are just a little more than a week from Halloween and things are getting even darker; and so don't let it get you down; have some ironic fun instead. Open Up and Say Ahh is light horror piece of poetry that explores modern tech-based life with a touch of an existential crisis and a butterfly eating spider. Ultimately it is meant to make you laugh ... darkly. The accompanying AI Art was a wrestle and it meant to represent our beauty and creativity caught up in a web that forces you to pick a side. Open Up and Say Ahh is published in Monsters, Avatars, and Angels and available through the link below.

Spineless

stay above the surface
among exposed roots and rivulets
mangroves tops and moss carpets
float down channels and canals
manmade or the best example
of Martian engineering
carve up the world
savannah or desert
a dried up plain of baked earth
where a droplet is a well
where torrents used to flow
and now the land caves in
flake by flake
time's fingerprints dissolved

or get stuck in a muddy mess
swamps and bogs
an other such novelty environs
hold your ground with sticky tenacity
there is no protection
in a world that has stopped moving
no distraction and only the presence
of all kinds of predatory things

but in the water
keep an open mind
a soft touch
standing your ground
dams up the flow
gets you stuck in the gutter
so put up your feet
let go and give way
no shell
no scaffolding
now that is what I call
fearless living
even a still pond does a ripple
takes on an ornate solar reflection
glare convergence offers safe passage
keeps those with a taste for the vulnerable
otherwise occupied with shiny mirages
hovering in aqua-space
constant ciliation
flamboyantly tender
doggedly persistent
finlike solar sails
sparkling anodized, fleshy hulls
whiskers in all directions
never intimidated by harder things
spineless

[This poem is in] answer to the prompt #martian. Spineless is published in Monsters, Avatars, and Angels. MAA is available, in paperback and kindle, through the link in my profile. Spineless is keeping with October's Halloween theme; but incorporates scientific elements, geology and biology. The AI image and video incorporate all these elements and integrate them into the themes of space and astronomy.

Words and Poetry are my own. Images unless otherwise attributed are a collaboration between me and AI, Grok. They should be viewed visual haiku, in that they contain symbolism. I include multiple images to hint at the process, which can be lengthy at times. The concepts are my own creation and the rendering AI. Keep drawing and painting. AI cannot replace your hard work and excellence. Open up and Say Ahh and Spineless are published in Monsters, Avaars, and Angels. All titles below, including Monsters, Avatars, and Angels, represent lengthier works and are available in paperback or digital through amazon and your local libraries and bookstores.
