Here is my submission for this! Really not too sure if this will work but you can position the center photo however you want really and place the texts where ever. I like clean layouts!

Here is my try. ;)
I'm a little late to the party here, but I had an idea so I thought I'd roll with it. Here's what I came up with:

There are many things that could be changed like the categories across the top, the location of the Issue number. Or get rid of the word Issue altogether and just put the number in the bottom left. I also thought it would be great to include the current upvote value.
I have the file saved as an .xcf, which can be edited via GIMP, so changing it each issue would be a breeze. I'll also provide the font files I used. Grabbed the image of the man with the laptop off of Pixabay, so it's public domain.

I doodled this up really quickly. It's inspired on newspapers, considering the daily qurated comes out... well, daily! 😎
It's made in Photoshop so I can share the source file with you so you can easily edit it for every edition. Or I could make a template for you to easily put the text and image on top.
The resolution is 1200x702 which is the ratio of the preview images and largest size for full width in a post. I use that for my own posts as well. It should also still work in both small size (thumbnail) as large size (full width in post)
I'd like to point out I'm entering with this as a concept! Should it be the winning design, I am totally open to tweaking it a bit further. An idea I have for example is putting the stamp on the top right instead of the date, and use the text area to list current voting values! (much like stock prices in newspapers).
