Did you start blogging for the money or fame or are you driven by passion alone. Well the truth is most blogs fail before they even really get started. Why? Because some bloggers are expecting overnight success, you know you've heard the stories. Did you hear, "Joe Blow, made a million bucks in a year all from his blog about socks!"
The truth is success doesn't happen overnight, if you're expecting fast results you'll run out of steam before you even get started. It's important to set realistic goals so you do not lose site of the big picture. People often dump a project and start something new before they understand what was wrong with the first project.
The problem with that is it's easy to "start" something, but keeping the momentum is the REAL challenge. Passion will only take you so far, you still need a game plan if you want to become a successful blogger.
We often here how important it is to blog daily and how content is KING, but if you aren't able to turn out quality work on a daily basis then don't do it. We would rather read a few excellent posts per week then a bunch of garbage daily. So how do you determine if your typing up relevant work? By following other bloggers in your niche, reading forums, the news, and anything else to keep you up-to-date on your topic will ensure that your content is fresh and relevant.
Another reason why most bloggers fail is because they try to be everywhere and do everything at the same time. Don't try to be the be-all for everyone, focus on what you can be an "expert" at and find others to help with things you are unfamiliar with.
My husband asks me daily why I started blogging, it started with passion and as I began to grow as a blogger I've discovered ways to make a little cash and gain some fame. But what I really love about blogging is the opportunity to express myself through words and help others on the same journey of entrepreneurship.
