I haven't been around in a while. I guess I took an internet break. I've literally been online and pretty active online since Windows 3.11 when I got my first CompuServe account and my first desktop computer. A lot has changed since then, some good, some not so good. Social media and social networking being some of the biggest changes.
As many of you know, I took a break from social media platforms for a bit. Hive and Instagram were the only exceptions. I stayed pretty active or at least most active here. Truth be told, the social media break was much enjoyed. I felt a lot better each day avoiding the daily propaganda that flooded my social media accounts. It was just getting to be a bit much. The constant barrage was really starting to annoy me. Hive, is one of the few places where people still have a polite conversation and everything isn't seeped in politics and propaganda. God, I hope we never lose that!
After abstaining from social media for a couple weeks, I felt so much better. Got more done, and had more time for doing the things I really loved. Hey, I get it, if you love social media, I'm not slamming it, just saying it's not for me. I showed up late to the social networking party, and left early. After that break though, I decided to take a tech break. Yeah, that's what I'll call it. A tech break.

Besides my reseller accounts on eBay and Depop, some shitcoin trading, and some bill paying, I haven't even been booting up my computers. I leave my phone at home sometimes on purpose when traveling around the local neighborhood. Frankly, the tech break has been really nice. I know not everyone is capable of being away from their phones for family reasons, business, etc... If you can however, give it a try. You might be surprised.
Anyway, that's where I'm at. This isn't meant to be social media bashing post or anti-tech post. It is however, why I've been away. I just sort of took the summer off and feel great. I've also reduced my level of TV and news media. Seriously, I feel so much lighter. I should have done this 10 years ago!
With all that said, I may post here from time to time when I have something worthy of sharing. This is actually one of the few places I still enjoy coming to from time to time. It was the only site I really checked on regularly during my break from everything. So I guess that tells me, I like it here enough to stick around.
So if you were wondering where I've been or what I've been up to, that's it. For the "X" version:
"Social media and internet break. Enjoyed a tech free summer. May post from time to time over the winter."
Hope whoever comes by this in their feed is well and thanks for reading and following this account over the years. YOU ARE APPRECIATED.
Nice to see you on my feed, Dood. Your advice seems very sound. All things in moderation at least. All the best!
Moderation is key! Cheers :)
Your opinions and actions are appreciated too. !INDEED
Yes, getting away from full time exposure and propaganda is probably the best thing you can do for yourself and your mental health. Congrats!

The constant barrage was terrible. Wouldn't be surprised if social media ends up becoming a huge mental health issue in the future. People need a break from time to time IMHO.
It's all planned and on purpose.
I think so too!
The absence of other social must have made you more relaxable and fresh....
Like you wont believe.
Nice to see you again after the tech break! As I get older, getting away from tech can be the most rewarding thing there is.
Rewarding for sure. It gives you a chance to breath. We're just bombarded with so much information these days. It's good to unwind from time to time.
I get it. I think 2025 has been the year I have posted the least on all social media platforms. I'm mostly a consumer of media these days. Although this month is National Podcast Post Month, so I am posting more regularly this month. Overall, I haven't minded not doing daily posting. Life is pretty busy and not feeling the pressure to post has been rather nice. Enjoy the world outside of tech. :-)
Probably the same here. The least I've been online in a very long time. It's really tough to be give it up all together if not impossible. Life and convenience make it very difficult.
Good to hear you are doing okay. I know some people struggle with social media. A friend of mine had to give it up totally as it messes with his mind. I enjoy the Hive scene and don't see much that would put me off. I just don't need the drama. It can be a time suck though. I need to focus more on my music, but I do a fair bit anyway.
I hope the trading is going well. These are tough times and extra income can help.

Always good to see you! I can see how social media can mess with peoples minds. For me, it was more about non-participation. No matter what I did I couldn't clean up my feeds. Finally I just said enough.
I've even slowed on that. The crypto rally has been a little disappointing for me. We'll have to see what end of year brings. Honestly, I'm even getting a little disgusted with our industry. This isn't young tech anymore and we're really seeing very limited use IRL. I figured by now, we'd see some kind of corporate adoption, crypto loyalty rewards, social network integration, bank adoption. I think it's really suspect how slowly we've been moving forward industry wide.
Always good to hear from you brother. Hope you are well and excelling in these tough times. Cheers
