[RANT] Travesty Of Justice - Part I [09.17.17]

“A Wisconsin girl who admitted to participating in the stabbing of a classmate to please horror character Slender Man will avoid prison after a jury determined that she was mentally ill at the time of the attack.”

Seeing as how we know only too well that the legal system has a big issue dispensing actual justice these days, we’re gonna consider this our first of what is sure to be many entries under the “Travesty of Justice” heading.

For anyone that has been or had been paying attention to this case, it involves two kiddies who, after careful and meticulous planning, lured a classmate into the woods and fucking stabbed her to death to please a goddamn Creepy Pasta fictional character.

You can’t make this shit up.

They claimed that they were trying to curry favor with a made up being named Slenderman.

So they coaxed a classmate into the woods and killed her to gain that favor.

The crime itself is fucking horrifying, but the undertone of it and the reason why is baffling. These kids, 12 at the time, read up on the Slenderman mythos and apparently watched some video and decided it was a good idea to try and win over this imaginary being with a sacrifice.

Certainly not the first time people have killed in the name of an imaginary being. The Crusades ringin’ any bells? Millions dead in the name of “God”, also an imaginary fiction. Not to mention any other time in history that men have killed in the name of their “Gods”, also imaginary beings.

But let’s not get sidetracked.

The gall of this scene is that this kid, now 15, gets to spend a scant few years in a fucking mental institution instead of a cramped prison cell where she bloody well belongs. Why? Because once again the system that is supposed to protect us has let us down by falling for the “mentally unwell” defense.

The gist being that though medical professionals found her fit to stand trial (and her associate who will stand trial October 9, 2017), a jury of her peers determined that these professionals were wrong, didn’t know what the fuck they were talking about, and thus she was rendered mentally unwell and thus not culpable for her crime.

That’s pretty fucking outrageous if you ask us. Think about it...professionals who do this shit for a living determine that she is fit to stand trial, but a group of goddamn bleeding hearts fall for the bullshit, pretty much calling the professionals wrong in the process, and give her and her defense team the go-ahead to get away with her crime.

Listen, if a professional determines that someone is fit to stand trial, then all cards for the “mentally unwell” angle should immediately be squashed and dismissed out of hand if the subject is broached in court proceedings from that point on. Once a professional determines that Sally or Jim is in control of their mental faculties enough to stand trial, then the ability to use that defense should be axed.

We’re not medical professionals by any stretch but we have this thing called common sense, and common sense dictates that one can LOSE their faculties in an instant, but if they were functioning damaged goods already, they cannot DEVELOP those faculties in a blink. That would be like suggesting that someone who is retarded could one day wake up all Einstein-y. In fact, it is exactly like suggesting that.

One can be an Einstein type and then lose that ability and become a retard (through bad genetics or severe trauma)...but it never ever works in reverse. Not now and not ever has it, or will it.

But these clowns on the jury want us to all believe that she could’ve been so “mentally unwell” before the crime, and then all of a sudden went 180 degrees and developed the ability to reason when assessed professionally.

NO NO NO NO NO!

She was 12 years old with no clear history of mental illness or infirmity. She was 12 years old and we all know the difference between right and wrong, good and bad when we’re 5 or so (and sometimes before then). She was 12 and knew that if you fucking STAB SOMEONE they’ll probably fucking die...and that can’t be considered a good thing or a positive thing.

If she was that “mentally unwell” beforehand, signs would’ve been readily apparent to EVERYONE around her. Someone would’ve noticed a change in behavior, actions, speech, activities, and so on. Don’t even fucking try to suggest otherwise. It’s textbook. When you have a mental illness, you exhibit warning signs. It’s textbook. Something(s) about the way you live your life and conduct yourself gives signs to those you interact with. If you suddenly become a recluse, that too is a sign.

So nobody saw anything??

Of course not, because there was nothing to see.

She was sad? Show us one 12 year old that doesn’t get sad. She was lonely? Show us a 12 year old that doesn’t get lonely (and subsequently clingy). She was depressed? Show us one 12 year old that doesn’t get “depressed” (and we put that in parentheses because let’s face it – if they get grounded, or lose their TV/internet/cell privileges they get all “depressed” and shit).

But so “mentally unwell” that she wasn’t in complete control of her faculties to know that stabbing her classmate would end her life and that the Slenderman AIN’T FUCKING REAL?!

Naw. Aw HELL naw.

She knew. She knew full well.

It galls us to no end to see shit like this play out. Seriously. A lot of the bleeding hearts say that she was “only 12” at the time, and if we sent her away to prison that wouldn’t help but rather hinder.

She took a life, you screaming limpsticks! She deserves to be in a prison cell. Her age is completely and utterly irrelevant.

We hope that an appeal will be swift. This can’t stand. No way can this stand.
