Why would any moral person want to enforce through violence immoral law ? The Supreme Court has already ruled that the job of Police officers is NOT to protect but rather is to enforce law. That's why they never intervene during protests or riots even when people are being assaulted or property is being destroyed.
They are State paid thugs who extort and rob from citizens through tickets, fees and fines.
