KA-BAR

in #blog2 years ago

Hey, how are you going?
A couple weeks ago I bought a USMC issue KA-BAR because the only other knife I had was a Masalong Karambit which was more tactical than practical. And KA-BARS are sick looking.

Today the knife arrived and man is it Purty!

The I got one is standard size with no serrations.

The standard blade size is 7 inches, the blade is made out of Carbon Steel and weighs 1.1 LBS, the handle fits nicely into your palm, sheath is made out of leather, and man is it sharp!

Brief KA-BAR history lesson. (Possibly Inaccurate)
The weapon 1219C2 was developed by Union Cutlery and President Danforth Brown and was put into production in 1942 duirng World War II, but later Union Cutlery changed the Company name to KA-BAR and after the company changed their name most Combat/utility knives were refered to by soldiers as a KA-BAR. The production of the 1219C2 ceased to be in 1952, hence they didn't produce another until 1970 when it was reissued to the US Military in North Korea and Vietnam. placing these weapons in three different wars throughout forty years.

Here's an amazon link for the one I bought if you are interested.
