Granny Says Goodbye to Coco

During a snow storm in November 2003 a brown lab-mix puppy showed up on our porch asking to be fed. We took her in and have been feeding her ever since.

The vet said that she was around four months old at the time; so we figured that she was born at the beginning of August.

We found her owner who told us that her name was Coco. The first owner did not have the ability to keep the dog and we adopted the dog who we believe is a lab mix. We changed her legal name to Kokopelmana after the wife of Kokopeli who is the Hopi Kachina of mischief.

Coco's rear legs stopped working this year and she could no longer go on walks and found it difficult to stand.

She feel off the handicap ramp to our house and tore up her paws trying to get back up. The fall was about two inches. When your legs don't work, even a two inch fall is traumatic.

She has been unable to even sit up after the fall and completely stopped eating and drinking. The dog had 17 years. We figured that it was time for her to visit the great dog park in the sky.

Because of COVID19, we were not allowed to enter the animal hospital. This is a picture of granny saying her final farewells to the small brown puppy that shared her den since 2003. The picture shows coco with her first frisbee.
