This chapter introduced me to the greatest person alive. That person is me! The writer stated that as long as we do not think big of ourselves, then big things will never come to us (Sounds like "The Secret" law of attraction. Huh?). He stressed the importance of Self discovery, urging the readers to look within themselves in order to find all the good things of life and in fact by so doing, overcome the greatest kind of ignorance that could rob anyone of a successful life.
Faith in self was said to be the first law of success, which everyone who intends to reach great heights of achievement must obey. The magnitude of our faith determines how far we could go in life. It increases our confidence and whatever increases our confidence in ourselves as he made it known, increases our power. Lack of self confidence is said to be one of the greatest sources of unhappiness in mankind.
As a spring can never rise higher than its source, so one can never attain greater success than he believes he can.

Christopher Columbus, the man who discovered America is a very good example of a man who had faith in himself and in infinite intelligence. The story of Christopher Columbus also further strenghtened the author's assertion that to succeed, we must prepared for success. Christopher Columbus while drawing maps as a child had always been possessed with the idea that the earth is round and wondered about the possibility of some land beyond the Canaries and the Azores. The account of his life show that he was a hardworking, religious and intelligent individual.
He became a sailor at fifteen and traveled to many parts of Europe and at some point in his life that his creator had destined him to discover the fringes of a new world and unveil a new era to the human race. It was no surprise that when his ship wrecked on the coast of Portugal during one of his voyages as a sailor, he was quick to believe that the bodies of two men looking completely different from other human beings he had ever seen must have drifted from the West. Despite the fact that he lost his wife, got rejected by friends, had no one to reason with him that the world was round, he never stopped believing in himself.
In summary, Christopher was able to convince those who gave him the needed support because he first believed in himself and discovered America only after discovering himself.
