Today is the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's death.
One of my favourite English novelist whose books, set among the English middle and upper classes, are well known for their wit, social observation and insights into the lives of early 19th century women.
She wrote 6 major novels; her first was Sense and Sensibility published in 1811. Her next novel was Pride and Prejudice, which she described as her "own darling child" then Mansfield Park, Emma, Persuasion and Northanger Abbey.
