The title of this blog is not me proclaiming that I am horrified by what Greg Gutfeld says on his 11pm, and now 10pm, Fox television program. As a matter of fact, I find it to be a breath of fresh air! I just had to buy his book, "The King Of Late Night," while shopping in the Brick, New Jersey, Barnes & Noble. I am not surprised that he doesn't receive the accolades that he deserves because he couldn't give two shits about cancel culture. With Trump no longer in the White House, many of the late night hosts no longer have any comedy material. They wouldn't dare to besmudge the good name of Joe Biden.
In his book, Gutfeld keeps bringing up the point, or at least trying to convince himself, that he is not a comedian. However, in a way he is! True, he does get supported by many of his comedy friends, even though many of them aren't household names, but he explains all of this in his book. I don't talk about politics on social media anymore because people get very nasty, even when they have no fucking clue.
When you watch the news on mainstream channels, they all sound like they are reading from the same script. Recently, they haven't even been subtle about their political leanings. I always believe that one should ask questions, even if it involves authority. People in a free country are entitled to their opinions and they should be able to say them without negative labels being put on them. The Democrats of yesterday seem to have been cut from a different mold as the ones of today.
However, this is not a political essay. I will leave that for another book review. This collection of essays tells the reader how he got to where he is today. It is also is very inspiring about what you could achieve if you work at it. While he makes fun of a lot of people, he more than makes up for it by making fun of himself. He gives credit to, and I would be remiss not to mention, Tyrus and Kat. While he gives credit to many others, these two act as cohosts on his show. The man has an impressive resume and deserves credit for straying from the status quo. He claims in the book to not be a Republican, Democrat or Libertarian. I find it less stressful to hear the news with a humorous take on things. In many cases, he hits the nail on the head.
