It been a while since my last #bouldersundy post and I pass this killer rock on my daily bike ride so I thought I'd share it with @shasta and his #bouldersundy crew.
I live in the Columbia River Gorge and we are fortunate to have some exposed columnar basalt.
This lava cools slowly underground and that is how the columns form. Because of this most columnar basalt is not exposed.
Here is an example of some exposed columns from further down the path on my ride.
I digress, back to the boulder, which is basalt but not so columnar ;)
It is exposed on the top of a small rise.
I climbed up to try and get a view of the top but the sunrise was making it tough to get a good shot here.
And I just spent about 30 minutes playing with my camera filters so please enjoy...
A couple of my faves.
So if you are a #rockhound like myself then I recommend checking out @shasta and his Sunday tag #bouldersundy.
Beautiful boulders and @shasta is right, I love the shadows! ❤️
Thanks @melinda010100! You know that morning sun makes for some awesome shadows. :)
You said boulder
Multiple times ;)
Oh my goodness what a fantastic boulder post ❤ @summertooth!
Love those filter edits, really beautiful! And the awesome shadow
you captured on the boulder from on high!
@melinda010100 would like that and the boulders too!
Like to have some of those for a giant stepping stone path!
Very pretty sunrise over the boulder, I like how you captured it!
Thank you for sharing these lovely stones! :-)
Thank you so much @shasta. I am truly blessed to live in a rock-lovers paradise!
