Sometimes accidents make all the difference:
This is the picture I snapped after the astonishment wore off, and my jaw finally closed. Haha There I was, standing in front of one of the oldest depictions of Buddha EVER found.
I love history and artifacts, its an eerie feeling standing in front of something, that pretty much came from another world than the one in which we live today. A world thousands of years ago, where everything, down to even the smallest detail, is completely foreign to what we see as normal. With different beliefs, customs, traditions, values, and understanding of the world they inhabit. Although we are both, from the same place. Its almost as if, we get a glimpse, into a parallel dimension of our former selves.
How this came about-
I took a trip to Washington, DC specifically to explore, and go to every museum I could in a two day window. This artifact was housed at the Smithsonian institute. This is the headpiece, to what used to be a full figure, it dates back to the 3rd century.
What Buddha really looked like?
Most people probably bring to mind the fat jolly Buddha, but that's not the reality of it. This being one of the oldest means that its probably the most accurate.

Reading this was a trip. It made me think a lot and I like it! I used to think that buddha was fat and jolly before I read this lol.
Yeah, that's usually the common misconception. I'm glad you liked it!

I have been planning a trip to Washington DC this year so if it all goes well I’m definitely going to hit up the smithsonian museum
You should man. Its a sweet ass place. ALL Smithsonian museums are free of charge by the way!
Hell I didn’t know that, that’s pretty awesome. I guess they just want to help everyone learn a little more about history
Yup, as soon as I found that out I went. Lol Its also the biggest museum in the world. Its off the chain.
I need to do research and read on Buddha. It fascinates me.
I agree. There is a ton to know, and still to be discovered. Thanks for your comment @bitdollar!
