In today’s news, we have a story about the infringement of liberty here in WNY, and one man’s stand against it.
Pete Harding, a personal friend of mine and the founder of Facebook group “Restore Constitutional Freedom for NYS” released a video earlier today on Facebook where he was saying that he needs to return back to court after having been arrested for not wearing a mask. Yes, he was arrested for not wearing a mask-- peak clown world. Well the issue of why he is having to return back to court, is that when he initially went to court to dispute this charge, he was told by the court that he can’t come in unless he wears a mask.
So here we have a judicial court blatantly violating the law by not allowing an individual to speak on his behalf. To add insult to injury, the officers there at the court were trying to cajole and guilt-trip Pete into mere compliance. Fortunately, Pete, being the strong-willed individual that he is, resisted their attempts to convince him to give up his Constitutional rights and stood his ground.
As a result of Pete taking this position, the court told him to come back tomorrow, and this time with a mask. Pete once again made his position clear, and held the line against the judge’s attempt to desecrate the Constitution.
With Pete ultimately ending up returning the court tomorrow, and with the court slated to refuse him entry once again, we’ll see how this pans out then. What I do know is that Pete’s actions here are an inspiration for us all, and it’s time we all take a greater interest in defending the rights of ourselves and our region.
