Hi all, so as a pretty successful business owner/entrepreneur for the last 10 years, I often have new business ideas that I just don't have time to work on.
I currently run 2 businesses with my wife with turnover of over $1 million dollars per year so I can fairly safely say I sorta know what I am doing. I've had another business which I sold for 6 figures a few years ago too.
Now that you know a little about me, here is my idea which I am freely offering anyone, anywhere to run with and turn it into a great business.
Here goes....I'm in Australia by the way but this idea will work perfectly well here, America, England etc
In Australia healthy 'smoothies' are a big thing. People pay up to $10 for a fruit/veg smoothie with some extra vitamins and minerals in it.
People here are also always looking to get healthy and lose weight.
People here also love the idea of making their own healthy smoothies at home but most of the time they just can't be bothered. You've seen the TV Infomercials for "Nutri Bullet" and "Nutri Blast" and all the other blenders/juicers/smoothie makers yes?
People love the idea of this but they are lazy and they might make a smoothie once or twice then they can't be bothered going to the shop and buying a few pieces of fruit and veg. Then they have to wash and cut the fruits/veg they bought.
They go to the trouble a few times then put the blender away and go back to their usual unhealthy ways.
My idea is this:
Deliver pre-washed and pre-cut bags of mixed fruit and vegetables and nuts and grains and seeds to their door.
This is how it works.
Potential customer goes to your website and picks a 'Smoothie Package'. They pay either a once off or a weekly subscription. Each package has a different combination of Fruits and vegetables with some 'super grains' thrown in, like Chia seeds, quinoa, goji berries, pepita's etc etc.
You either prepare the package yourself or you arrange with a local business that is already chopping fruits and veg for local restaurants and schools etc. Almost every city has these businesses as it's common for restaurants to just order chopped lettuce, carrots, etc etc.
You either deliver the package yourself or tee up with local uber/courier drivers to deliver the package for you for a small fee.
Customer gets delivered a 'smoothie pack' that requires no preparation, they simply chuck it in the blender and drink. Each package could have say enough for 3 days worth of smoothies.
Each week, customer chooses the package they want as part of their subscription.
There are millions of opportunities for 'upsells'. Offer customers special berries and grains and seeds to 'boost immunity' or 'boost energy' etc for a few dollars extra.
Here's the sweetener to get them to sign: Offer a 12 month subscription to the customer and they receive a "Free Nutri Bullet". These are worth about $50-75 now so if a customer is locked into a 12 month subscription you will more than make your money back.
Rough potential profit figures:
- A smoothie package for 3 days could be $12.95 for example.
- Actual cost to you for some carrots, apple, kale, seeds would be about $2.
- Factor in some time/money for delivery - you could do this yourself til the business grows - and you're still making $7 or $8 per package.
10 customers ordering once per week and you got yourself $80/week.
100 Customers ordering once per week and you got yourself $800/week.
This is a great business that requires almost no cash outlay. All it needs is a facebook page or basic website or even wort of mouth.
It's scalable because as you grown you outsource the food prep and deliveries. All orders can be captured online.
It's great for the consumer too, instead of paying up to $10 for a single drink, they can make their own at less than half the cost.
