Picking your team. The 'Whats' to look for in that person(s)

in #business7 years ago (edited)

In every aspect of life, we all need a team that will get us and help us achieve that goal we set for ourselves.

Did you know that man a lone cannot stand alone, but can stand alone with the help of a team?
Take into consideration Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and the rest of those sporting greats, they all have teams that help them get thrown into the limelight. The reason Messi can be talked about as the greatest when all he does is play his own part of the game is because he has a team that gets him and also help him find himself.

I am glad to be a member of a wonderful team that is poised to creating the next big thing and as the days unfolds, we will be seeing these steps being walked.

How do you pick a team that will work for you?

The difference between an excellent campaign and the rotten one that makes people cringe is the type of street team you pick. Okay, let me break down the street aspect here. From where I come from, being street means you are smart and forward thinking.

You can have the best ideas, the best materials and even the million dollar on ground for a massive project, but without the right team, you will never be able to get it off the ground.
You need an A+ team that will be there at every time to run with you as it concerns the goal and target.

Your team members must exhibit the following.

  • Enthusiasm.

A team member that is ready to take the project to the moon must be eager and ready to commit to the project and follow through. Nothing stops such individuals because their spirit will at every turn endorse the best decisions and moves.
No matter the shortcomings or disappointments, their enthusiasm can never be dampened and that will work well for you as the leader because from these individuals, you will find strength.

  • Self-Starters.

Every one who can get up and do stuffs without having to be reminded or pushed will always fit in a team and you must get these individuals on your team. Self-starters are known to never b caught napping, they get into the groove long before the groove itself.

  • Professionalism.

Competency can only mean that individual is a professional at what they do. You must look out for that individual who does their work with every taste and touch of professionalism because they always make sure to deliver on their job without fail.

  • Ingenuity.
Your team member(s) must exhibit high levels of cleverness, originality and inventive because as long as that list is, you need such attributes in them to be able to achieve a win in your project.
A good enough and acceptable level of ingenuity must be employed in getting that target met. Anyone without such skills will never be able to get you results.

  • Experience. Sometimes, I like to argue this because most people can draw up long lists of experiences gained from working in various capacities but cannot really deliver on the job you are assigning to them. So for this one, I will ask that you try out for the size the particular area this individual can excel at.
That person you you looking to add to your team may not have done that kind of job before, but might have some experiences doing their own job and if you give them time to understand what it is you want them to do, you will find out that they may just be the perfect fit.
Let them learn on the job is they show that they are of sound mind and can act without being prompted.

Picking a team can be hard. but I am sure when you take your time to go through your list, you will understand that the right team always gets the job done.

I have to add this here, STACH started out with an awesome team of individuals who were mostly driven and ready to apply themselves and then they found a leader who was always about the next step.

Leadership and the ability to coordinate your team also plays a vital role in the picking and subsequent assembling of a group of individuals who will stand behind you.

I will agree for the most part. I work in a store and run a team of 10 - 12 at any given time and a roster of 30 in total. The two main picks for me are hard working and common sense. I dont care how highly educated a person is if they can't make a logical decision at a moments notice. A hard working person who can think for themselves are the ideal person to train to the standard that you expect from your team members. I agree with your options as well but these are the first two on me list.

If you have the right team in place who enjoy what they do, then you don't really need to work. The team make sure that you job is kept to the minimal amount of effort.

I like that and you are correct about getting the right person who is hard working and can apply common sense in what they do. Thank you for your contribution.

I like the enthusiasm part...
Infact the most broke person on earth is one who has lost enthusiasm...
Working with one is even more disaster..
