Today is Easter Sunday and as I was sitting here being sad because Jesus hasn't come back to kill all the Republicans I started to wonder why. Constant surveillance, mind control, hatred, racism, all this other evil stuff. Why hasn't God come back to save the world? Maybe it's not time yet, or maybe it's because He still has hope that we can save ourselves. He hasn't lost hope yet. Hmm... That means we can still save ourselves. So then I started wondering how. How do we save ourselves?
In order to save the world, we must first save the human race. We need to end the battle of good and evil and good needs to win. If we keep fighting we'll run out of time and the planet will be destroyed due to climate change. That's not counting all the bad things that will happen if we don't stop these other things. Invasion of privacy, loss of freedom, mind control etc.. How do we stop all that? The answer is selflessness. Selflessness solves it all. Please read my article Decentralization Won't Save the World but Selflessness Will.
So how do we become selfless? Is that even possible? Yes, it is possible. Selflessness is all around you right now. You just haven't noticed. Do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other? When was the last time you went out to eat together? Maybe you wanted Chinese and they wanted Italian. Where did you go? If you ate Italian food that was a selfless act. Do you have any children? Did you watch that kid show or the one you wanted? Kid shows are pretty good so that's not a good example, but it's still a selfless act. Have you ever held a protest sign on a weekend or retweeted something you believe in? Those were acts of selflessness. You gave your time for the greater good. Selflessness is all around so that means it's possible. But now we need to kick it up to the next level and how do we do that? Not by becoming activists. That's not what I was going to say. By becoming better human beings.
The first thing we must realize is that life is full of choices, and each choice is a choice between selfishness and selflessness. All of them. Every choice you'll ever make is the same choice. Think about it. I'll wait, but don't get sidetracked. Keep reading before you go off on a tangent. Did you get up right away when the alarm went off? Did you put the toilet seat back down? Did you put the milk away when you were done with it? Did you pet the dog or kick it out of the way? Did you hide the Easter Eggs in easy to find places for the little ones or chuck them over the house as hard as you could? See, you're already selfless, but we need to become more.
Now to become more selfless all you need to do is consider the options before you act. Consider the consequences. If you eat Italian food your partner will be happy. Maybe the Chinese place always has a line. The Italian place is across the street from the bank so you can walk off some calories afterwards when you go to the ATM. Also, a nice walk would be nice. When was the last time you did that? By considering the options before you make the selfless decision it doesn't seem weird at all. It feels like you're doing the smart thing. The best thing. You're making the best choice. That isn't a sacrifice at all. You're being smart and becoming a better person at the same time.
If you've read my other article you now realize that capitalism and socialism aren't the only ways to govern a country. Altruism is also an option. Everything can operate as a non-profit, universal basic income can replace welfare, and no fee crypto can replace paper money. If needed, certain things can be decentralized. With some creativity, you can solve most things in an altruistic way. The things you can't figure out just require a bit more thinking. Selfless thinking, which is the first step. First, we must become less selfish ourselves, then we can create selfless things. Like non-profit banks, universities, grocery stores, hospitals, etc.. Which already exist by the way, just not in the mass quantities we need to change the world. And finally, we can create selfless governments. Governments that are separate from business interests and the people who would control them.
It isn't a fantasy. It's all possible. The selfless world is all around us we just haven't noticed it yet. Using off the shelf components we have the technology to create it, the intelligence to figure out how to build it, and the connectedness to make it happen across the world. We have everything we need right now.
So ask yourself. Consider the consequences. Would you like to continue living in this selfish world of ours or live in a selfless world? How would life be in a selfless world? How would things be better? Would there be poverty? Hunger? War? Discrimination? Hatred? What would life be like in a selfless world?
