I liked livejournal back in the day as a testing ground for ideas and discussions.
Medium transformed itself into a platform for sharing content although it tended toward the old ideas of publications. Narrative seems to be doing the same.
But with so much and carried Dapps using systems low low cost to do transactions, the future is wide open!!
