The JerryBanfield Bid Bot Went Offline for a Week and is Coming Back Online Shortly!

in #busy6 years ago (edited)

During the last week, I tested some alternative options to voting bots. After reading the comments and with a lack of participation, I am turning the voting bot back on to ensure delegators get the best returns.

For help and support with votes, will you please visit https://jerrybanfield.com/contact/ because this is where we provide support for the bot?

Love,
Jerry Banfield

Rich :)

btw I predicted you were going out of bots last month, when I saw your bot consistantly going down in funding.
You knew that this is a frowned on practice by people out side of steem and could not be associated with it and be a rep for the blockchain and platform.

Very smart move to disassociate yourself from it after you already exploited it for 100s of 1000s of dollars!

Im not sure if @jerrybanfield can ever disassociate himself from bots.

He is and he will be FACE OF BOTS on steemit. I've learned everything about using them from @jerrybanfield and many others did.

Very smart move to disassociate yourself from it after you already exploited it for 100s of 1000s of dollars!

I agree.

looking forward to see what it is you have to offer. You sound confident that at least a few people will recognize the potential of your new project and become inspired to start their own versions

Thank you for letting me know you are looking forward to seeing it too because I am so excited about it myself I am happy to know the feeling is shared!

у вас прекрасный бустер! you have a wonderful booster!

This new idea sounds exciting ...although I use bid-bots but I don't feel very good about it.

Just used your bot service for the very first time today! Glad I got to try it out in time! I agree with you though, bots are old news and its definitely time to bring back that human connection and reward good old quality content. I hope other whales follow in your footsteps! I miss the days when I would wake up to an upvote from a whale who actually read and appreciated my content!

Thank you for letting me know you tried it and support a move away from the voting bots because reading what you wrote @sweetpea helps build my imagination for what is next!

Only my pleasure, he he! Glad I could be of help! Looking forward to so exciting changes on the blockchain!

Nice post jerrybandfield

Thanks @jerrybanfield

very interesting

Thanks for letting us know about it and you done a really good job in these past 6 months, leep it up jerry and Support more good Projects on steem Blockchain.

Thanks for sharing this post with us and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed

Well written up, you are such a great man who helps people, you are right bot has its own disadvantages which you have stated, Am looking forward for your posy next week.

I'm excited to see what you have in store. I'm not ashamed to say I used to use the bots to build up some SP when I first started in Dec. Now I don't use them anymore for the same reasons you mentioned. I really like it when people come and see my photography - rather than just doing it for the pennies. Anyhow - I'm glad you're continuing to try new things. Hopefully it also manages to keep all the different factions happy too.

@jfolkmann

bid bots were and still are the only paid ads that is allowing small players to gain some visibility and compete with whales.

no shame in using them. i see other people doing it on daily basis and i know that most of those authors would left steemit alreasy if not for bit bots. Without them building reach, follower base or making any profit is hardly possible. Im a marketer so Im still doing just fine but ive seen many others stuggling. i can only guess how many of them will give up.

I think we should bring new solution into life first, test it and just then think of removing old solutions (bit bots)

I reading your every post just excellent for your every post.

Thank you sir

Unintended consequences. You are an upright person for doing this difficult change.

I am so relieved to hear this @jerrybanfield. I heard you were powering down and that made me more worried than I already am about the future of steemit and my place in it. I am a bid-bot user and rarely use yours as it is a big crasher with losses for the most part. So I think you can safely shut the door on that place.

And you are right about the content in there. I watch closely and see lots of good minnow posts with normal people trying to boost them. But there is also a lot of garbage. The "garbage" people are very heavy users in the bots and a lot of their posts ONLY have bot votes. Don't even get me started on the few people who spend all day in there getting bot votes onto their useless comments.

I wish you the best of luck in this new plan. I try to remain optimistic and keep going here. I am glad you are still on board.

Sharon thank you for letting me know what you see because reading what you write about the bid bots and minnows struggling to earn is exactly what motivates me to build a system that supports the creation of great content especially less frequently without the need to go to bid bots for help with upvotes!

While I recently was down on Steem as a platform for rewarding authors directly, I see that the ability to build communities here offers the very highest potential especially when those communities are backed with Steem power. The more successful communities we have, the greater the value of Steem will be just as with Ethereum. @ned appears to have the same vision which I am now finally figuring out how to match!

I hear you @jerrybanfield, but the only problem with that is that we currently have less than 10K in "people that matter" here. If you divide those people up into communities - can they sustain themselves?

Lets say we have 30 communities with about 300 people in each. None of them support the other communities and just hang out with each other. This really worries me. How will anyone get welcomed in the door as a new minnow when everyone else is in their groups? What will happen to the Alexa ranking?

I have watched this chart since I got here. We had close to 170K in redfish in January. Now the number drops each time I see this.

I hope your idea helps steemit succeed. I have brought in about 20 content creators from my various niches since I followed you in here last year. Not one of them has stayed.

@fitinfun ..where can I find the latest chart you have pasted above ?

Thanks in advance.

This comes from @arcange. He seems to produce it every few days. This is the most recent:

Hi @jerrybanfield I am still very new to Steemit, though I've had some success simply because I spoke at the Steem Creators conference in Vegas, and have gotten out and gone belly to belly with other steemians. It really is about community, and the common theme I saw was authenticity, consistency, and transparency when it comes to doing well on Steem.

I have used your bot once or twice, but, not consistently, because I couldn't figure out when was the right time to not lose money on it. Also, I only like to use bots on good content. So, I usually won't use a bot on like a steepshot or zappl post.

I do however, delegate to you. It's a tiny amount, but, I'm hoping there is still the opportunity to earn money back from that delegation. I LOVED that!! :). Can't wait to see what you have coming. I'll be watching, and leaving my delegation with you.

Amy Honey

Thank you Amy! I value your feedback on the new system for delegators tomorrow!

Well, if you are making me money, and keeping the integrity of the platform, I'm sure I will LOVE it!!

Gave you a witness vote a long time ago. And, I am glad I did. When I was very new to steem, there were some horrible trouble maker people griping and moaning about who was a whale, and who was using bidbots, and who was not. Didn't take me long to realize the hardcore negative reputation the nay-sayers had spoke to me more than their words.

The way I see it, as I am building my account to where I am eventually able to to a daily show and blog, bitbots work well for gaining steem power.

But, I also put a lot of effort, passion, and research into my writing. And as a filmmaker, you can imagine how passionate I am about creating good work. So, I agree with you about there not being much of a connection as mostly I get upvotes from bidbots and hash-tag group I work with.

My gaol for this my steemit account to educate as many people as I can about how mainstream media is used to manipulate them. And how to stay positive and deflect the negativity that goes with that media. And having the goal of wanting to educate people about how the media is used to manipulate people, I think is a worthy goal.

So eventually, maybe not as quickly as current whales, the community putting effort into this platform will see it's reward of a self-sustaining endeavor. And the freedom that comes with the elevation of many, I think is a world changing dynamic. True freedom for all can actually be a reality.

I am grateful to know and feel I am free now after so much help from others like you to help me get here!

Ayo semangat terus sahabat esteem

I was too wondering if any bid-bot read our post or just ahow the love by voting thanks @jerrybanfield for standing with me. All the best for your new projects and really your bid bots gave some of the best return whenever i tried ......steem on!

Great, Jerry. I am looking forward to your new project. Did the TribeSteemUp community inspire you to this step?

I am one of your fun @jerrybanfield. I set up autoupvote for u too. I followed you from Youtube. It is you that brought me to steemit.
I also constantly buy bid bots from you as I thought would help me build my reputation if people see the amount value on my post. Though I knew in my heart not too but I did. I am glad there is something else you want to help us grow on steemit. Though I knew in my heart not too but I did. I am glad there is something else you want to help us grow on steemit.

I mostly post travel videos and I sometimes show nsfw image of me to encourage people to live healthy and also for a change to NOT SO SERIOUS POST. Though this scares me a little .. what if I get downvoted.. Just like you mention- people are mean sometimes.

My purpose on steemit is the same purpose I eaa doing on facebook- ### Share my hard life to motivate others what it feels like. TO LIVE HAPPY, TO LOVE GOD AND LOVE OURSELVES SO WE CAN LOVE OTHERS.

I am thankful to have you online .
❤️ I love you and You been AWESOME!

Elvie thank you following from YouTube and letting us know how you got here! I visited your blog and left another comment! We love you too and are very grateful you are here with us!

Go Jerry go!!!

Oh, thanks to the author @jerrybanfield, the blog is very helpful to newcomers to Steemit like me. I followed you and wanted to learn more from you. Again, thank you very much for your blog.

I can't wait to see this new project presentation.

*wow that's good news man!!............love Thursday June 7, 2018!

yes, i am glad to see you taking action here. I had a bit of a negative view of your bid bot as I saw it always ran negative for bidders and felt that was not a great use of your notoriety. For what it's worth, this move on your part has changed my very limited view of your presence to a more positive one ;)

Thank you for letting me know this is how you see it because I shared that view before I launched the bot and I went forward with it because I realized I might need to run the bot to get through to something better. Often the best way to understand is to fully experience. After six months I am excited to be ready to launch what I think will remove a lot of demand for bid bots :)

Looking forward to your new project and a better human rewarding system for the whole community. Keep up with you good work.

i spoke with few friends about this post and we all seem to share similar opinion

somehow my trust towards @jerrybanfield has been very damaged

how can someone promoting bots so heavily all of sudden make such a heavy turn and be (or pretend to be) against it.

everyone i talk to either do not care or say that this is just wrong. That's also my impression.

just wanted to let you know, what people (at least some part of steemit community) think about your anty-bot turn.

it would be best to provide users with different solutions first and then remove current ones. at the moment we're losing one of very few tools that allows us to compete with whales (allowing us to make our content visible) and we're receiving only general promise that soon somethig better will come.

I keep mi fingers crossed

yours
Piotr

Piotr thank you for sharing what you are thinking because reading your post here shows me we need a sustainable community based solution that allows us to compete with whales and benefit from that type of voting while completely relying on our own input and becoming investors instead of "renters" with bots. I maintain flexibility and the ability to change my actions to best suit the community. My initial response to voting bots was one of not liking them and I chose to go with the strategy of launching my own so that I might do some good funding projects on Steem and understand why people have bots from the inside. Now I have all of these points and view and am ready for the next step which incorporates the best of everything! Will we take it together next week?

Hi @jerrybanfield

Im very grateful for taking the time to reply to me.

Being able to compete with whales is something we all need. But I cannot think of any solution that would allow it. I will keep my fingers crossed for whatever solution you will introduce.

I hope your view on bots will not turned to be completly against them. Shutting down your own bot is one think, but being against other bots would bring just some extra damage.

Yours
Piotr

Congratulations @jerrybanfield!
Your post was mentioned in the Steemit Hit Parade in the following category:

A bit strange feeling to hear that your bot will go offline. I read often you were talking in favor of bots but now that your bot will be no more, you are talking against bots.

Thanks for the update Jerry. Very thorough & I look forward to hearing your plans for the new project. I hope you're doing well. All the best.

Joseph thank you and I am happy to see you here on this post after our meeting almost a year ago now!

Bid bots are slowly declining with the downturn of the Steem value. Hopefully, crypto will rise again thereby bringing more people to Steemit. Until then, the rest of us need to focus on what we can do to help those who are here grow so that when new people flock to Steemit we will all be well-established.
