Drug abuse now is spreading like wild fire despite all the efforts seemingly put into combating this malaise. In most countries, the youth and teenagers who indulge in this abuse allegedly take them to improve their sexual experiences, while others do it to get recognition in their communities.

Poorly informed youths seem to form the core of this set of people, and efforts need to be stepped up to curb this situation with the youth.

To this regard, information is key and how it this information is distributed is also important. People who want to spread this information have to be well informed about drug abuse and it's effect and also need to understand how to pass this message across to the affected.

The first phase would be introducing drug abuse prevention tips for parents wherever these larents can be found.
These tips should contain what drugs are, what they are meant for, how they are meant to be used, what can constitute abuse and how this abuse can lead to health issues.

  • Drugs are supposed to be used to treat certain sickness and disease or pains and every drug has its required therapeutic dose and anything outside or above that dose is an abuse.

  • When drugs are taken without a prescription, it is an abuse.

  • When you have no reason to use a drug and you use it, it is an abuse.

Note: abuse is not only when it involves strong drugs.


Medical effects include:

  • neurological deficits ; this leads to a weak functioning or malfunctioning of the brain and in turn the spinal cord and muscles. For instance, it brings about abnormal reflexes in the abuser.

    That's why abusers tend to shiver when they haven't had the substance in a while.
  • addiction.
  • temporal increase of sexual libido and long term destruction.
  • depression.
  • constant hallucinations.

Parents should realize that it's not because they work 9-5 or 8-5 jobs that Thursday raise better kids, they have to have a sense of responsibility to their kids.


Teach these kids and young ones about use of drugs and why it should not be abused.
Allow them to ask questions and be sure to provide answers or refer them to experts who can help.
