Sign shadow - Can you tell the time from this image

in #busy7 years ago (edited)

This is a signpost on the windswept clifftops of Cornwall. The idea is to follow the signs which give you a safe coastal walk along this rugged northern coastline.

My entry for this weeks #shadowphoto contest initiated by @melinda010100 and hosted this week by @shasta

The filters used on this image are Zeke and a little bokeh. The shadow reminded me of an old sundial and those of you with a mathematical bent can figure out what time of day it was taken if I tell you which direction I was facing which was. South West. Have fun :-)

For those of you that want to know the time but can't be bothered doing the math. The answer is. Photo taken on the 6th April 2019 at 15:47 hours or 3:47 p.m.

Awesome sign shadow @molometer! It's 3:47 pm my fav time of day :-)

Well done @shasta for reading the whole thing.

It's 3:47 pm my fav time of day :-)

Isn't that a great coincidence? 🙆😂😂

I was going to try and work it out but while I was pondering it my eyes continued reading so my guess is the time was 3:47 p.m.

😂😂 Spot on Jay, it pays to read on sometimes 🙆🙆
Well done and thanks for reading.

Indeed it does it really saved me taxing my brain LOL

😂😂 It got me thinking about the people that didn't read on. 😂😂

Wandering around for the rest of eternity never knowing the answer was right there in front of them the whole time. 😂😂

Deep hey? 😵 I crack myself up sometimes.

I notice a lot dont I see many comment just on the first photo I share which is in the thumbnail, and never notice anything else in the post so I truly appreciate those that actually see and read the whole post

LOL I love that wandering around for the rest of eternity bit, :)

Haha, the lost souls wandering around for the rest of eternity. I haven't used that old trick in ages. i.e. to put a piece in the blog to see if anyone reads the whole thing.

This is the attention economy we are working in and many people think that they 'have to' get on the next thing pronto? They think they have no time?

I find it rather weird but it has always been the same since I started blogging a very long time ago. :-)

I dont do it often but every now and again I slip something in and see who notices it, or sometimes not even for that its just a random thought that comes to mind as I am preparing a post and trust me I have lots of random thoughts LOL
I think you are right it seems to me that the attention span is changing and perhaps more so over this last decade, maybe longer but I havent been blogging and maybe have not noticed it that far back

The Shadow looks so much thinner than the post! Great image! Thanks for entering the contest!

Yeah, that's what made me think of a sundial. The thin delicate hands of a clock.
There is a small step right behind it too which makes even harder to see. 😖😂😂😂

howdy sir molometer! very clever and interesting, I'd like to take a walk on those cliffs someday!

Glad you liked it. The cliffs aren't going anywhere so someday you can walk along there if you want to.

I agree sir molometer. I know the the UK isn't a huge country but there are so many things to see that it would still take at least 2 weeks!

Haha two weeks? With our roads and traffic?
It took me 8.5 hours to drive 300 miles from Cambridge to Cornwall!

oh ok, lol..I will have to make much longer plans, is traffic bad in most areas?

Pretty much everywhere! The rural roads can be faster even though the speed limit is lower? Less traffic.

I would have to live in the country sir molometer, I hate cities. we live 10 miles from the nearest small town and that's enough hassle for me, putting up with the traffic in that little town!

Cool shot! Way too much math for me!

😂 The answer is right there on the post. Damn I sound like a bot!

6pm maybe 😂
