Teletalk to BKash Mobile Financial Services.

State-owned mobile phone operator Teletalk network has been launched today (Monday) from the bKash Mobile Financial Services From now on, any Teletalk subscriber can open bKash account and use his mobile phone to enjoy bKash service at any part of the country.

State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Begum Tarana Halim inaugurated the service by opening an account of bKash on her Teletalk phone as the chief guest at Dhaka's Westin Hotel. At the time, Teletalk Managing Director Gias Uddin Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of BKash Kamal Kadir and Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank Selim R. F. Hossain was present.

In February 2015, bKash signed the Network Sharing Agreement for the launch of Mobile Financial Services for Teletalk customers. Being televoted now, bKash is providing mobile financial services using all the GSM mobile operator networks of the country including Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi and Airtel.

With the introduction of the bKash mobile financial services to Teletalk, Teletalk customers can easily avail of various types of bKash services like sending, receiving and merchant payments. Besides, Teletalk subscribers will soon be able to recharge mobile balance through bKash.

Tarana Halim said that people living in rural areas of 70 percent of the country, but 13 million people have mobile phones. And more than 90 percent of the area is now included in mobile phone coverage. However, this has received a huge challenge for our large number of non-banking services, to bring them under banking services. They have progressed so much.

He said mobile financial services are included in the bank of Bangladesh. Just like the BTRC controls mobile network issues, Bangladesh Bank looks at the regulation of mobile financial services.

The State Minister said that mobile financial services development has been playing a leading role in empowerment of women.
