Steem Basic Income - Weekly Voting Report 1 August 2018

in #busy8 years ago

Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Still Going Strong

We are up to nine pools, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, @sbi7, @sbi8, or @sbi9. We currently have 3462 members that have posted within the last 28 days. Unfortunately the members that are not posting are not receiving upvotes. There are currently 32449 'shares' in the program, and it grows every day.

Pool 1 accounts voted

With so many inactive members, we have only been able to upvote 284 of the members in pool 1! This represents a 29% inactivity rate in pool 1. We will continue to move inactives into an inactive list after 4 weeks or so. Since rebalance cycles take time to process, the exact cutoff for movement to the inactive list is flexible.

When a member on the inactives list begins posting again, we will see that in our data refresh and reactivate them into our lowest pool. From there they may begin moving up through the pools again as we continue our rebalance cycles.

Management shares are created at a rate of 5% of regular shares. Since @josephsavage has not been posting frequently enough to get value from his management shares, most of them are temporarily assigned to @thedailysneak until the automation project is finished.

Allocations have also been granted to @earthnation-bot for their early development work, and to @holger80 for the work he is doing now.

Pool 2 accounts voted

Pool 2 upvotes come from @sbi2!

We have flattened the premium that higher pools received (it was never much, and realistically made no impact after rounding) and will be gradually removing the share maximums in each pool over the next few rebalance cycles. We are trying to do this in a way that minimizes the number of members that are receiving 100% upvotes and losing some of their value. Expect to see less evenness in the slices of members that had capped out multiple pools, as some of their shares start to migrate toward the higher pools.

More changes will be announced over the next few weeks as we continue to lay the groundwork for transitioning to fully automated system. Keep an eye on our regular updates!

Pool 3 accounts voted

Interestingly, @steembasicincome received exactly 10% of the voting value from @sbi3. This is the target amount, but both higher pools fell somewhat short. I think some of this was from upvoting @steembasicincome comments that already had votes so they would exceed the payout threshold.

Pool 4 accounts voted

@digitalis and @factism coming up at the top of pool 4 actually came as a surprise to me. There are quite a few members in that pool with more shares than they have. As I dig into the scenario, I find that they are benefiting from a posting frequency that is just above the cut-off to be moved down into pool 5.

Under our partially manual system, we upvote in full integers (e.g. 1%, 2%, etc) and we usually move people down only when their upvote % drops below 0.50%, so it would round to 0% instead of 1%. As pools grow, the value difference represented by a range of only 1% has grown significantly. This is one of the reasons why we have transitioned from 500 members per pool to only 400 members per pool.

Last week I predicted that @digitalis and @factism would be moved to pool 5 soon, but I did not explicitly target them for reassignment, and it appears I was wrong.

Pool 5 accounts voted

The percentage granted to @steembasicincome in pool 5 was 10.6%. We have been much more consistent over the last week with our updates, and hope to continue with that consistency now that we have @ntowl helping with several of the updates each week. This will be very good for our sustainability!

Pool 6 accounts voted

Pool 6 upvotes come from @sbi6!

Last week, I suggested that @rahmadantara benefited from lucky timing with his posting, publishing during brief periods when voting rules were setup at 100 and not adjusted to target levels yet.. Added to his normal value received of 2% on two posts each day, it was enough to propel him to the top of the pool.

Surprisingly, he topped the pool again this week. This indicates that some other factors may be at play, so I will have to investigate further. Even this anomaly will disappear when we move into our new system.

Pool 7 accounts voted

@cicbar is maxed in pool 7, so they will continue to receive the largest slice for some time, but we may see its relative size diminish over the next few weeks as some of his shares begin their migration up to the higher pools.

Pool 8 upvotes come from @sbi8!

img source: http://www.steemreports.com/outgoing-votes-info/?account=sbi8&days=7

Similar logic applies in pool 8. Since most members have only a few shares, the few that have many but have not advanced out yet are represented with large slices. Like @rahmadantara in pool 6, I will need to investigate why @opiman received such a large portion of the vote from pool 8.

Pool 9 upvotes come from @sbi9.

We have been enrolling new and reactivated members into pool 9. Typically the largest slice in the newest pool will go to somebody that enrolls with enough shares for 100% upvotes and has not been moved up. Assuming something unexpected isn't happening here too, we should expect the breakdown to look a little different by the next Voting Report.

Conclusion

Since we want members to receive their full bonuses from upvoting, the goal for how many upvotes are needed to reach the full bonus will continue to be based on our actual number of updates, instead of our target of once daily.

If you would like to contribute to @steembasicincome's development, please reach out to us on Discord. We are extremely grateful for the work that @holger80 has been putting into our automation project. Please consider supporting him with your witness vote.

Enrollment

If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member. If you sponsor yourself, or do not sponsor anybody, we will assign the 2nd share to an existing member.

If you're unclear, please check out our full transaction memo guidelines and let us know if you have any questions.
https://steemit.com/busy/@steembasicincome/steem-basic-income-updated-transaction-memo-guidelines

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We are not accepting SBD for enrollment transactions. The delay for processing enrollment transactions can be up to 6 or 7 days.

9 pools, that's awesome. I love me some SBI 💓💜

Hey guys, I'm less active than usual of late. Is posting once a week/ once every 2 weeks enough to keep me in the 'active' category?

We do not move members onto the inactive list until they have not posted in 28 days or more.

Im a bit confused. My latest post didnt seem to get voted on?

We have been experiencing a lot of issues with the third-party services that we use to deliver upvotes. We are working on an in-house solution, but it's not ready for release yet. For now we just have to be patient with steemvoter and steemauto.

When we are ready to release our in-house solution, we will calculate any outstanding value that members should have received but haven't, and begin them with initial 'balances' that will add value to their first few upvotes.

I love ❤️ SBI! I am so glad i was introduced to this. I have enrolled a few of my Steemit friends and I still have to enroll a few more.

hello there, its been a while ... i'm not very active in the community text-wise i suppose but otherwise i think i'm quite the fan , there seems to be a problem with the vote for

https://steemit.com/ubasti/@ubasti/sbd-distro-60-02-08-2018-50-50-3v

itss been 10 hours since posting so it should be there, this is probably the first or second time it happens, so i assume it must be lagged out or something . . . i already contacted @josephsavage on discord but i'll state it here too, just in case he's busy or unavailable, thanks in advance (you people provide the biggest chunk for the distro giveaway so its quite essential there, thanks in advance)

Thanks for letting us know!

owh , sure :)
thanks for the service as always (i barely ever ceck replies on these because they're supposed to go fully automated (should be by now) but since @isnochys nanobot didnt come through again, im hoping for once he picks up the phone

so to speak ... the minnowhelper-x series is really lousy return , its not even for me its for the winners @maahes .... but a bot that doesnt vote from a guy who doesnt respond is even less than 6to1 ratio on 0.001 fee :)

and so ...
thanks again

Will miss seeing your steady enrollments, but I can understand the shift to Steem Monesters giveaway. You have to do what is the most appealing to your customer base.

Hope this is the right place for questions. I got my wife @puravidaville an sbi roughly 3 weeks ago, she posted yesterday and didn’t receive an upvote. Also, she purchase an sbi for myself and 2 others roughly 3 weeks ago and the 3 of us haven’t received an upvote.

Thank you in advance, bare with me, I’m sure it’s a simple explanation that I haven’t figured out yet.

We upvote from various accounts. Your posts are receiving them from @sbi7:

@puravidaville was moved to the Inactive list. Now that she is posting again, she will be reactivated soon.

That sbi7 has been following me for about a month. The one my wife purchased for me was just about a week ago. Is one a maximum? Maybe it is and we missed that part. But she also purchased an sbi for two other Steemit members who also already have an sbi following them. How does that work because we haven’t seen her purchase give them an added Upvote either.

Thank you for taking the time to help us understand this.

Your upvote value is driven by your share count. Having a higher share count would increase your upvote value, but it is calculated on a weekly basis. If you increased your posting frequency at the same time, you would not see any change on each post, but you would still be receiving more value each week.

Also, the SP available to each pool continually increases. So you might not always see a % increase as you grow your count, but that's because the value of that % is growing instead. If you weren't growing your count, you might see the % you receive drop over time (but not the value).

Thank you for explaining that to me @sbi9!

Thank you sbi for your upvotes! ❤️ u guys!

I really like this idea but SBI8 is missing my post again. I got a vote 3 days ago for my post but yesterday I did two post and didn't get a vote at all. I do only have 3 shares but I read this was a everyday 1 vote plan I seem to get more like a every other day a vote. It is still a great plan I just hope to see it work better.

There have been some server issues with the platform we use to deliver the upvotes. We are working on developing our own automation system, it is not completed yet.

I'm loving this program. Keep up with the good work, everyone, contest creators included! 😃

Contest creators are the best!

how to check my sbi share ? The last day, I buying 40 steem sbi share ! but your vote is 0.08.

The enrolment is done manually so it can take up to 7 days for new shares to appear. It also depends on your posting frequency.

Great job... Keep it up, They're great.

You just planted 0.08 tree(s)!
