We first saw the success of Steemmonsters. That was followed up by Drugwars. Both games are highly successful on the Steem blockchain both ranking in the Top 5 on State of the DApps.
Blockchain is really a nice match for gaming. One of the biggest facets of these warring/battle games is that people spend money to acquire different tools to improve their abilities. Naturally, this can create a built in market for these items. Since things are priced in cryptocurrency, the logical progression is to put them on an exchange where they can be bought and sold.
Hence, we see digital assets that have real value.
This leads us to seeing another game appear on the Steem blockchain. @daiesthaiwar is now part of the Steem community.
Daiesthai war is a PVP war game based on the Steem blockchain where you can buy, collect and trade Arks of power, weapons, and spells.
This was the statement in their post introducing the game to the Steem community. There are not a lot of details regarding the project or the team behind, something that was noted in the comments. This point was acknowledge so hopefully we will see more information soon.
They did release a video on YouTube that is more of a trailer than an information source. It does have a Game of Thrones feel to it with the music while putting the Steemit (should be Steem) logo up there.
The website also looks to be MVP which is fine. It looks like they are pushing out what they can to get going which I have no problem with.

I am not a gamer so these things excited me from the perspective of potential. I know the gaming community is huge and many gamers spend hours at a time playing with little reward. Gaming is a multi-billion dollar industry with the participants making little to nothing from it.
For this reason, blockchain based games make a lot of sense. I can understand the appeal of getting involved in a game while also making money at it. Those that excel at these types of games can garner nice rewards through the accumulation of the digital assets that are created. It really is a terrific venue to play on.
Steem has a lot to offer and it is good to see programmers taking advantage of it. I know not every game will be a big success. However, I prefer to view it as a numbers game: the more gaming applications that are on here, the greater the likelihood of finding that one that is a mega-hit. In the meantime, we can see each game bringing in hundreds of new users apiece to the platform. This will help to grow the ecosystem and spread the word about Steem.

Another instance of not knowing the difference between Steem and Steemit.
I'm not suprised and would have assumed a pvp style game would have shown up sooner as it seems that's another popular blockchain game currently. It will be nice if this becomes popular because it may convince other popular dapps like EOSknights to become cross chain compatible.
The continued flexibility demonstrated here in addition to the capabilities will continue to attract developers here as the community continued to consume those created faster than any others out there today!
