RE: Life Beyond Our Wildest Dreams

in #busy6 years ago

I see amazing times coming. The problem with pointing to Sci-Fi as a representatoin of the future it that even though the technology might advance, we as humans are not perfect.
I can see the beginnings of the Star Trek replicator in the 3D printer. If you want something, you just give the command and the replicater finds the patterns and creates it right in front of your eyes. The next step will be replication that includes organic materials and then genetic. I can see a 3D printer evolving to where it will deconstruct the pattern of somenhing here and beam it like radio waves with teh pattern to reconstruct it somewhere else
The problem is that we, as humans will have to evolve to a higher level of responsibility to use these technologies. This is why it happens in cycles. It starts like a revolution and the next wave will begin when we have evolved to being able to use that technology as second nature and common place. That is when there will be roon for the next stage to evolve.
I remember when I was in High School. we had an IBM 360 computer in the school. It took up a higher floor which took up a city block and had double doors to control air pressure and floating floors to minimize any motion that could effect it. We used punch cards to use it and it had a green screen. Now my cell phone has more power than that computer had and is already being called obsolete.
The future will be interesting -this will be a blessing, but we myst still approach with caution and care remembering the old Chinese curse that says: 'May you live in interesting times'
