I think I read it somewhere that over 60,000 Steemit accounts went through this process to get free Byteballs. I could be wrong about the exact number, but its in the tens of thousands. And the process is totally safe and legit.
I tried it a few days ago, but my account is too new - only Steemit members who created their accounts up until July of this year are eligible.
I am jealous:(
