I joined the 'airdrop' for the first time earlier this month. Got my free Byteballs and turned it straight to Bitcoin after receiving the coins (I was a skeptic). I basically got a free 0.4BTC worth of Byteball (I linked about 25BTC to the airdrop).

Basically to distribute this cryptocurrency they want to give a large portion out to Bitcoin holders based on how many Bitcoins you have. A snapshot of details from their site are below:
Fair initial distribution
98% of all bytes and blackbytes will be distributed to current Bitcoin holders who bother to prove their Bitcoin balances during at least one of distribution rounds. No investment is required, you need just to link your Bitcoin and Byteball addresses by making a small BTC payment or by signing a message with your Bitcoin address. Then the number of bytes and blackbytes you receive in each round will be proportional to the balance of your Bitcoin address in the snapshot block of that round.In the first round, over 70,000 BTC was linked, and we distributed 10% of all bytes and blackbytes according to linked Bitcoin balances in the first Bitcoin block timestamped Dec 25, 2016 (Christmas block). In the 2nd to 6th rounds, we distributed another 15.5%, over 450,000 BTC was linked.In the 7th round, which is scheduled for the full moon of July (July 9, 2017 at 04:07 UTC), we'll distribute 62.5 MB for each 1 BTC of linked balance and 0.2 new byte for each 1 byte you already hold. To participate, install the wallet and chat with the Transition Bot that will help you link your Bitcoin and Byteball addresses. Track linking progress at transition.byteball.org.
Again key information for the next Byteball giveaway:
- Date is July 9, 2017 at 04:07 UTC, the rules stay the same as the last airdrop.
- BTC to bytes: 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 62.5 MB (0.0625 GB)
- BTC to blackbytes: 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 2.1111 * 62.5 million blackbytes (money supply of blackbytes is 2.1111 times more than that of bytes).
- Bytes to bytes: 1 byte on any Byteball address gives you 0.2 new bytes.
- Bytes to blackbytes: 1 byte on linked Byteball address gives you 0.42222 blackbytes Putting this another way, to receive 1 GB from the distribution, you need to already hold 16 BTC or 5 GB. These same holdings also give you 2.1111 GBB (giga-blackbyte).

Wish I had more than a bit on or 2. You are saying you linked 25 btc and got .4 btc worth of byte all coins?
Yeah I did, well I sold the byteballs immediately and got about 0.4bitcoins for them (the price dropped a bit). This time I will try and link 36 bitcoins and hopefully get 0.65bitcoins or so.

Do you have a Trezor? If so it is so easy to sign the message. Downloading the software and signing the message is like 5-10 minutes!
That is a very small amount of Bitcoin to do it with but more airdrops will be coming soon! So it might be worth the time!

According to the transition page at byteball the largest bitcoin account holds 53880.05741758 BTC. Can you imagine that? A wallet just chilling out there with $146 Million dollars in it. WoW!
Yeah Roger ver and similar guys have some big ass wallets..
For everone, who has already participated in the airdrop, make sure in case you have an updated btc balance that you are correct connected again. I needed to do the process all over, as the bot has not regocnized the changed funds
