1963 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 Series III

Another great car is presented during the online sale RM Sotheby's Open Roads until March 25th. A beautiful 1963 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 Series III is bid up to € 195,000 with less than two days left on the clock (estimated price around € 300,000).

With a coachwork designed by Pininfarina, the famous Italian coachbuilder, this Ferrari must be a wonderful car to drive thanks to its race performance and stunning design. Performance and design, what more could you ask for 😀

History of Ferrari 250 GTE

Everything started when Enzo Ferrari wanted a new coachwork and asked to Pininfarina instead of Vignale,the most popular carrozzeria among Ferrari's customers, to pen a new design for his new model, In March 1956, the Ferrari 250 GT Coupé was presented during the Geneva Salon.

In 1960, the first Ferrari with 2+2 configuration, the 250 GTE, was presented at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (used as the course officials car). The coachwork was designed also by Pininfarina with two rear seats. It was a huge success despite its high price $US 13,000. 954 examples was sold produced between 1960 and 1963 in three different versions.

The Ferrari 250 GTE is equipped with 2,953 CC SOHC Tipo 128F V-12 engine with three Weber carburetors producing 240 hp at 7,000 rpm.

This example (chassis n° 4295 GT), bought in 1963, was finished in Grigio Argento over Nera leather upholstery. The car was restored in 2012 and recovered its original color (it had been repainted in red by a previous owner). Classic and beautiful...
