The company's first Lamborghini model was released in the mid-1960s, later recorded for improvement, power, and comfort. Lamborghini got a lot of praise in 1966. After decades, hard times hit companies in the mid-1970s, as sales plummeted because of the world monetary crisis of 1973 and the oil crisis. After a period of bankruptcy and three changes of ownership, Lamborghini became a subsidiary of Chrysler in 1987. Lamborghini's lack of success continued into the 1990s, until the company was sold in 1998 to Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, an automotive Company German. Audi's ownership marked the beginning of a period of stability and increased productivity for Lamborghini, with sales increasing nearly tenfold during the 2000s, culminating in record sales in 2007 and 2008. The world monetary crisis in the late 2000s had a negative impact on makers luxury cars around the world, and saw Lamborghini sales fall back to pre-2006 levels.
