Our day began when the alarm clock broke our ears at 5:00 AM reminding us that it was time to start the journey to Ocean World in Puerto Plata. Since it was a 4 hour trip we had to leave at 6:00 AM.
For those who do not know, Ocean World is the most important amusement park in the Caribbean and is located in the province of Puerto Plata. From the start, the whole park is great. Beautiful gardens, its surroundings and beautiful animals.
The itinerary inside the park is organized in 4 animal shows. The first is the presentation of the Sea Lions for half an hour. This undoubtedly is one of the best shows in the park. All the visitors gather to see how all those animals do incredible maneuvers that you can not imagine. For us it was a fantastic experience, difficult to describe. Can you imagine a sea lion doing break dance? I saw it with my own eyes.
When you enter the park you do not know what to do. You definitely DO NOT KNOW where to go. '' What if I see the first show '' '' A picture here, a picture there '' '' Uhhh let's see what's there '' hahahaha truth that your mind explodes.
Well, after the first show that is very early, you take about 200 photos. After you land and you realize you need to see all the presentations, then you calm down and follow a plan.
The park has a common area only of birds. Many parajitos turned crazy in a large space. Inside the place you have the possibility of feeding them, so you imagine that, when having a single crumb of food, they harass you as if you were their mother and then when you run out, they leave you (Oportunistas lol). Since the harassment of more than 99 birds in a cage is so great, you have the good fortune to shoot many cool photos. Even in your head they land.
In the same area you can find a single space of Toucans of different colors and sizes. These are the ones in charge of presentation # 2. Have you ever seen a Toucan play dead? Hahaha was epic and funny.
After the presentation of the birds is over, we continue exploring the surroundings. Taking pictures, knowing the corridors, the animals, etc. After the time passes (which happens very fast by bad luck) comes the presentation # 3, the dolphin show.
You have to be honest, all the tourists go to the park to see the dolphins and to take photos with them. This show is quite a show. From acrobatics, rare jumps, and surfing. Seriously, you can be surprised a lot.
After being burned by the sun, since you do not mind burning yourself just to see the dolphins circling through the air, comes the most important thing in life, lunch.
The park coast of a very varied buffet, we can not complain. In most tours you have the facility that the food is included, but not the drinks. If your plans are to visit the park, my recommendation for you is that you have enough money. A bottle of water costs you $ 93 pesos. Can you imagine a bottle of water for that amount? A regular soda costs you $ 120 and a Presidente Beer costs you $ 140. And noooo, I know what you think. The answer is no, you can not get food or drinks to the park. You must consume it there.
Apart from the presentations and animals, this park has a totally free diving area. They lend you a diving gear and a life jacket for ten minutes. If you want to have really good videos, buy one of those waterproof cameras because you want to record them all.
It also has a recreation area with sweet pools and a '' beach '' class with many activities. Another interesting thing that it has are very fun and terrifying slides.
With everything explained above, you must imagine that all this is not done in two hours. Which means that we would be arriving at the end of the day with the last show, # 4, of Tiburones. Yes, as you read it, Fierce Sharks. To tell the truth, the show is not the big thing, it's more of a food exhibition, which is natural because think about it in this way. How the hell do you train a shark? I think that is impossible. During the show they ask for volunteers from the audience to touch them ~ you know that there are only maybe two raised hands ~ few dare.
You wonder, if there are so many cool things, how is it possible that I can see all the shows? It's simple, the 4 shows are presented twice a day. A routine in the morning and another in the afternoon, so you do not miss anything.
And that's it, the day is over and you're physically shattered because you took advantage of the whole day as if you had 100 hours. If you are a fashionista, a fan of beautiful things, take enough money. The park has a very interesting gift shop that will attract you a lot of attention.
Oh and I almost forgot, if you intend to throw yourself from the slides, do not wear a bathing suit, put on a pair of pants, you'll thank me !!!
