Rimac hits (very) hard (Geneva 2018)

in #cars6 years ago

Rimac, this Croatian brand, you may already be talking about something: this electric supercar had indeed made headlines recently for sending TV host Richard Hammond, of the show The Grand Tour, in the background. The manufacturer returns to Geneva with a sport even more extreme: nearly 2000 hp and a 0 to 100 in 1.85 seconds. Tesla can go get dressed.

Tesla will not have held long with the record (announced, and not verified) from 0 to 100 km / h with the future Roadster. The small manufacturer Rimac, known for its first electric supercar, the Concept One, which develops a little more than 1000 hp for already outsized performances. This time, Rimac is even stronger at the Geneva Motor Show.

The small craftsman unveils the C_2, a hypercar with electric motors developing, hold well, 1914 hp and 2300 Nm of torque. All this cavalry necessarily leaves traces in the cervical of the driver who will have to support a 0 to 100 km / h in 1.85 seconds, with a maximum speed pointing at 412 km / h.

This car is officially the car of (small) fastest series in the world on the crossing of 100 km / h, departure stopped. And as if that were not enough, Rimac announces 650 km of autonomy thanks to batteries that are certainly in line with the Concept One: lithium combined with an iron phosphate cathode. A metal that can have better performance than conventional batteries. But obviously, if we use all the power of the machine, the autonomy should quickly be reduced to nothing.

And to nail the point, Rimac announces that this C_2 is equipped with an artificial intelligence for autonomous driving level 4 (the penultimate level). Which is equivalent to driving without any human intervention. If all this is true, it will be a small car achievement that will delight 150 buyers.
