Was Christine the killer car beyond redemption?

in #cars7 years ago

I love that film. I love the book - and more importantly, I love that car.

How beautiful is Christine? Beauty pageant beautiful (I'm steering away from Prom Queen analogies here - thank you, Furry Editor) Her lines, her contour, her shape - just beautiful.

(Yes, I know it's not Christine, however our Furry Editor sees the beauty in all cars)

But would Christine be as beautiful if so wasn't so evil? Well, that's a tough question. Is her demonic nature part of her allure? Is Christine the ultimate femme fatale? Seeing as Christine is a woman (in car form) who takes no prisoners, it may be significant that her allure may be anchored in her gender. Would we be less forgiving if a 1958 Plymouth Fury had been possessed by a male demon, more like "The Car"? Interesting question - interesting quandary. Here is what he may have looked like:

Christine is a perfect combination of obsession, desire, and revenge. With no morals, no guiding principles or inhibitions of any kind, Christine creates an immediate bond with her human, and begins to syphon their energy in order to transform herself back to her glory phase. This parasitic decay takes a hold of the bonded human immediately, and the man - it's always a man - decays from within.

The one constant is the fact that the bonded human male never sees Christine for what she truly is, and defends her until the bitter end. So the question is pertinent - is Christine beyond redemption? My best guess would be no. As a demon, her standards are not human ones, and as such, cannot be measured in any conventional way. Even though we experience the same emotions, doesn't mean they work - or respond - in the same way.

Is Christine's redemption even worth trying then? I would attempt it, especially if it protected innocent people, and animals. To know what you are facing makes it no less important, however, I would do my best to not get in her way though...
