Any pet or other animal is a huge responsibility in terms of expenses for food and veterinary care in addition to your time.
I owned a puppy for a while when my kids were younger, but then we developed allergies. He was donated to another loving home. Since that time, I haven't owned another animal with growing kids to care for and devote my time to.

Awww, sorry to hear about your kids' allergies. Oh yes I forgot to mention the veterinary care costs, they because astronomical towards the end, so we're saving money now too. Thank you for your comment!
