This community was created by @curatorcat with the intention of building a "Home Base" for cat-related content on Hive!

The basic idea behind Hive Cats is to build a community of cat lovers where all manners of content related to our feline friends can be easily discovered, sorted and appreciated simply by using the #hivecats tag, and sharing your cat-related content directly to the community.
Regardless of whether you visit the actual community feed, or simply click on the #hivecats tag on any post on Hive, we hope it will bring a stream of fun and cute cats to wherever you are!

Why Cat Content?
Hopefully this community can grow into offering a "softer" counterbalance to Hive's more technical, blockchain and cryptocurrency content, and with that also serve as one possible "Gateway" to encourage a new and wider audience who might become part of the Hive community!
You don't have to "speak" crypto or blockchain to participate here!

Cats matter!
Some people even believe that cats have become the "unofficial mascot" of the entire Internet, going back all the way to the humble origins of "Caturday," back in 2004.
It is estimated that there are more than ten BILLION cat photos on the web, and online cat videos have been viewed more than 50 BILLION times!

Consider the many "superstar" cats we have seen over the years, from the original gray "I Can Has Cheezburger?" cat from more than a decade ago who became the inspiration for "LOL Cats" and spawned billions of cat memes, to the late great and much beloved "Grumpy Cat," to Japanese celebrity "Box Cat" Maru.
Hive's Own Multitude of Cats and Cat Lovers!
Hive already has many cat lovers and community members who regularly include their cats in their posts!
Our late furry friend "Orange..."
To mention just some of them, we have @manorvillemike whose place is home to no less than eleven felines; @krazzytrukker, who drives long haul truck with his feline companions in the cab; @derangedvisions, a professional photographer whose orange floofs regularly appear in his posts; @isaria, artist, musician and keeper/rescuer of many cats — including "cat celebrity contest judge" Snibby; @grapthar, who posts daily updates with his trio of felines; @comiccat, whose frequent cat photo posts have been a Hive staple for several years; @crypticat, a feline "princess" who dispenses occasional cryptocurrency wisdom; @nikv, catlady and gardener from South Africa and "mom" to the adorable "Peanut;" @nelinoeva, regular Caturday contributor posting about "Furry" and youngster "Blue;" @mintymile, one of our community's earliest supporters... and there are numerous more, but you'll have to go explore and find them for yourself!
Of course, we also have the "behind the scenes" cat lovers like @saboin, who's a very active curator and supporter of cat-related content, and @fraenk, creator of the adorable @cuddlekitten bot and the CAT token ("Cat Appreciation Token") which is "tip currency" for cat content, available on Hive-Engine. Yes, we cats have our own Token! And don't forget @kona's "Daily Pet Photography" community @dpet which also supports lots of cat content!
Love Cats? We're not the ONLY game in town!
If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!
Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.
There are others, but they are not very active. We'll update this list as needed!
Rules and Requests and Such Things!
We don't have a lot of rules here; we just ask that you consider the following guidelines:
- Cat content ONLY. Non-cat related posts will be muted.
- We PREFER posts to be about Hive users' OWN cats, rather than random cats from the web, but that's not cast in stone. However your stories about cats, feral cats, cat rescues, cats you met while traveling and so forth are very welcome!
- Yes, you may cross-post your cat-related posts from other communities to HiveCats. Rule no. 1 applies to cross posts. too!
- Plagiarized and copy-pasta posts will be muted and posters reported to HiveWatchers.
- Have fun and engage with other community members and their posts! Support Cat Content!
- We kindly ask that you go OUTSIDE if you need to hack a hairball!
