Our rescued cats, lovable fury bastards!

We first got Tiger, a stray from my niece, she felt sorry for him when him and a traveling companion showed up on her doorstep begging for food a few weeks before Christmas. I heard about her visitors and decided the girls would love to have a an awesome present, such as a kitty needing a good home. Tiger has become a big part of the family.

We took his companion into the vet, with the intention of it sticking around too, but his diseases had eaten him up and taken hold. He passed away shortly after.

Tiger loved playing with the girls, but we all left during the day for school and work. You could tell he was starved for attention. Enter Connor... Tiger's new playmate. Connor was a little confused about his sexuality. Connor was named by his former owners, a bunch of sorority girls. Connor had a ton of medical issues, unfortunately his lovely owners did not take care of him to the level that he deserved.

Tiger is happy to have a buddy, even if he is being treated badly by a Marv Albert wanna be. (search Marv Albert biting)

These two boys have been a handful, but we wouldn't trade them for anything... But they needed some calming down. How do you calm two young boys down? Introduce Princess... More like queen b****. She doesn't take crap from anyone... including me. I've been bitten more then once... It's safe to say, she does not like male humans. No matter how hard I have tried... no matter how many treats I have given to her... I will not win her over.

Princess was rescued from a shelter days from meeting her death. She did not win anyone over and was next up on the chopping block. So we decided we would try our hardest to make it work. It hasn't been easy and even after a year, we are still trying to win her over.... we are close.

The reason of this story... We saved 3 cats that became a part of our family. They have improved our lives and helped teach my daughters about responsibility. If you get a chance, help improve/save the live(s) of a cat/kitten... it will surely improve yours!

Great post! We have two rescue kitties that we wouldn't trade for the world. Not everyone has a place for animals in their life but if you do they can truly enhance your life. Sounds like your crew is lucky to have found your family.

Aww so cute; I think it's great that you rescued them, and yes, pets teach kids responsibility for sure, even if it's you that is still taking on the brunt of the work (at least that's how it was in my house with 2 boys and 2 dogs and 2 cats (also rescued) :) I'm living in Mexico and there are so many street dogs and cats, and I'm afraid it's awfully common for people here not to take very good care of their animals (not everyone!). I know there are a few Animal Rescue places around here; my goal for this year is to start volunteering at them. I do all the time though carry food in my pockets for the little waifs we meet on the street :) Cheers! Nothing says you're a good person more than your love for your animals!!

I have been to Mexico 28 times, I have seen the street animals first hand it is insanely bad. Its awesome that there are efforts to help stem the problem. We love our fur-balls.

What part of Mexico are you living in? I've been to Hermosilo, Vera Cruz, Mexicao City and Puebla for work.

It is estimated that cats can make over 60 different sounds.

In contrast to dogs, cats have not undergone major changes during their domestication process.
