Colourful Vision of Cats III

in #cats5 years ago

While cats are able to see in dim environments and lock on to fast moving objects, their sight is not necessarily sharp in comparison to that of a human. They are comparable to what humans would be classified as near-sighted due to their reduced range in vision. Objects that are in a normally comfortable viewing distance will appear blurry to cats and they will need to approach the object to a very close proximity. There are a range of trade offs that are made in the feline vision biology as they contain features that are more hunting orientated.

For instance, the position of the eyes that are placed towards the outer sides of the head allow a greater peripheral vision allowing them to perceive more of the surrounding area.
