The early stages of growth are one of the main causes of concern when raising a kitten. It is essential that a kitten be weaned properly so that it may learn some of the most important life skills that are expected to be seen in a cat.
In some cases, a kitten may be orphaned due to circumstances but most breeders will have the queen mother with her kittens for many months. After eight weeks it is recommended to review the weaning process and establish whether the kitten has been able to gather these skills. Premature weaning will exhibit obvious behavioural patterns that judges will identify when interacting with a cat. Taking time with a kitten and waiting for the right time to show takes precedence over trying to participate as soon as possible.
