During my visit to the Temple of Dawn in late afternoon, I happened to see several cats around the temple ground. That surprised me somewhat as I had never seen a single stray cat there before. The lockdown might have made the temple very quiet and safer for stray cats to come out and enjoy themselves. I even saw two families of small kittens and mother cats at the far side of the temple. They had more hiding space under the boxes of souvenirs for selling to tourists in previous days.
I was glad to see them looking healthy and well fed. They were amazingly friendly and would approach people easily. As I was about to leave the temple before closing time, I saw two ladies armed with bags of rice and cat food. They were dishing out food on several plates. It seemed they knew all the cats and had to give each cat it own plate at the same spot every evening. No wonder I saw cats starting coming out to the lawn in the evening. They were waiting for their dinner at their positions. One lady told me that some cats did not like to share their food that was why she had to carry many plates. These are very lucky cats as kind local people continue to feed and look after them.
These two ladies had to walk around the ground collecting the empty plates to be washed at home. So, cleaned plates could be used again the following day! I really admire these local people’s compassion and kindness towards these stray cats which often were left at the temple when they were very young. Most irresponsible pet owners quietly bring their puppies or kittens to the temple thinking that monks would look after them. This has created lots of burden to several temples and the Abbotts has to ask for donations of money or sacks of dog food. Some temples have to feed hundreds of dogs everyday. Luckily kind pet lovers always answer the call for help. I guess believing in good karma is very sensible and constructive in making people kinder and less selfish.
I do wonder how these cats will cope when hoards of tourists are allowed back at the temple. Their ‘private’ lawn would become crowded with tourists. They will have to wait a bit longer for their dinner!
Wishing you all a very nice day!
Cheers.

Black cat on the rock ..great shot...🙀
Thank you very much! He did give me a dirty look at first. Then he just ignored me! He was waiting for his dinner!
While it's commendable that people behave kindly to animal, it's a shame that some humans still treat themselves and others badly. Animals are way less complicated than human-beings.
Things happen in mysterious way! Karmic rules!
Yay!

That calico cat from the first photo looks like distant cousin of my Furry.😀
Oh! Calico cats are supposed to bring their owners good luck! We used to have one like that when we were kids. My friend has four kittens, he would like to give me two: one orange and one calico!! But I have to think about this! My two cats may not like the idea!
Have a nice day!
