Navegando inútil en el fango de la ignominia
Pisoteada por la lodosa bota del tirano uniformado,
y los que visten de rojiza mortaja
Quienes matan de hambre y enferma a tu gente
En su afán por complacer el necio empeño de su ego retorcido
Tras los azotes de la anarquía y la desidia,
Intentando despertar a una grey quien yace en el sueño profundo
De la conducta gregaria, y en el ciego fanatismo,
Auto flagelando su dignidad tras un mendrugo de pan,
Desnutriendo tu cerebro en las filas interminable de la miseria
Al yacer cabizbaja bajo el inclemente sol del inframundo,
Agotada en una fila sin final, procurándose un kilo de arroz,
Sin darte cuenta, que estás cooperando con el enemigo
Colaborándole en su macabro juego de hambre cuyo objetivo
Es,
verte derrotada en el banquillo de los fracasados
Al norte del mar caribe vestida de orquídea, turpial y araguaney,
Orinoco y Caroní, siempreviva y paraulata,
gentilicio, buen humor,
Trabajo duro, e inquebrantable voluntad
¡Enamora al Catatumbo, rasga las tinieblas de la ignorancia!
Y emerge soberana como un trueno, tu poder, tu cimiento, tu valor
Engalana como un niño tu talento, y ciegamente cree en él,
Confía en mí porque soy la libertad, unida a ti por los vínculos de la eternidad.
Sailing uselessly in the mud of ignominy
Trampled by the muddy boot of the uniformed tyrant,
Who kills from hunger and sick your people
In his eagerness to please the foolish effort of his twisted ego.
Do not insist on skinning your already bled skin
Intending to awaken the flock who lies in deep sleep
Of gregarious behavior, and blind fanaticism,
Self flagellating his dignity after a crust of bread
Undernourishing your brain in the endless ranks of misery.
When lying down in the inclement sun of the underworld
Exhausted in an endless row, procurándote a kilo of rice
Without realizing, you are cooperating with the enemy
Collaborating him in his macabre game of hunger whose objective
It is, to see you defeated in the dock of the losers.
North of the Caribbean Sea dressed as orchid, turpial and araguaney
Orinoco and Caroni, siempreviva and paraulata, gentilicio, good humor
Hard work and unwavering will
Falling in love with Catatumbo, tearing the darkness of ignorance
And sovereign emerges like thunder, your power, your foundation, your courage
Delay your talent as a child and blindly believe in it
Trust me because I am freedom, united to you by the bonds of eternity
