En la biología, muy pocas cosas se consideran un dogma, por ello casi todo es refutable, hago esta mención, porque durante mucho tiempo se creía que TODOS los tiburones no dormían, ya que si se quedaban dormidos no podían dejar pasar el agua por sus branquias y eso llevaría a la asfixia.

they fell asleep they could not let water pass through their gills

La prueba que refuta lo anteriormente mencionado, se descubre cuando un pescador mexicano de langosta Carlos García, se sumergió mediante apnea (buceo a pulmón) en Isla Mujeres y visualizó una cueva llena de tiburones dormidos.
