Desde que comencé a vender mis productos, lo hice de la mano de las redes sociales, la forma más rápida y efectiva de llegar al público (en aquel momento, disponía de pocos contactos y menos recursos aún). El boca a boca fue fundamental, a partir del primer trabajo, las recomendaciones de la clientela satisfecha fueron mi mayor publicidad, sin embargo, había que intentar llegar más lejos.
Cuando comencé a fotografiar mis creaciones fui consciente de la dificultad con la que me enfrentaba: yo no era una profesional de la fotografía, de hecho nunca me había siquiera interesado especialmente, incluso pensaba que no se me daba muy bien. Tan sólo disponía de mi teléfono móvil (y tampoco era de muy buena calidad) y la luz del sol andaluz como aliada (jejeje).
Salía al patio de casa al atardecer, porque el sol de la mañana "quemaba" las fotos. En una mesa situaba una tela para usarla de fondo, a veces era un algodón blanco, otras una rafia natural, dependiendo del tipo de libro a fotografiar. Era cuidadosa con el encuadre, con evitar las sombras,... aún así, cuando veo esas imágenes, me doy cuenta de cuántos fallos tienen.

When I started to photograph my creations I was aware of the difficulty I was facing: I was not a professional photographer, in fact I had never even been particularly interested in photography, I even thought I wasn't very good at it. I only had my mobile phone (and it wasn't of very good quality either) and the Andalusian sunlight as my ally (hehehe).I went out into the courtyard at dusk, because the morning sun "burnt" the photos. On a table I would place a cloth to use as a background, sometimes it was white cotton, sometimes natural raffia, depending on the type of book to be photographed. I was careful with the framing, avoiding shadows,... even so, when I look at those images, I realise how many mistakes they have.
Con el tiempo me hice con una caja de luz. Iba a construirla yo misma, sin embargo hay muchas opciones económicas que dan muy buen resultado para productos de pequeño tamaño, y decidí invertir en una de ellas. Se trata de un cubo fabricado en material plástico con uno de sus lados libres. Tiene una apertura superior -donde está situado el aro de luces leds- y desde el que puedes realizar las fotografías cenitales. En el interior dispone de unas pestañas en las que puedes sujetar los diferentes fondos de tejido que vienen incluidos. Lo mejor es el mando para controlar la iluminación: puedes elegir la intensidad y el tipo de luz (fría, cálida o natural, que es una mezcla de ambas). ¡Cuánto agradecí la llegada de este artefacto a mi taller! Me inspiró bastante en el tipo de fotografías que estaba realizando hasta ese momento.
Antes me limitaba a fotografiar mis libros encuadrados y centrados en la imagen, dejando un borde alrededor de él, más que nada para ajustarme al formato de las publicaciones. Excepto cuando hacía una fotografía de los detalles del libro, todas las demás tenían la misma estructura. A partir de este momento, comencé a añadirle elementos decorativos, que coordinaban o contrastaban con el producto a fotografiar, los giraba en el plano, los captaba desde diferentes ángulos,... fue un cambio que embelleció mi trabajo de cara al público.
Eventually I got my hands on a light box. I was going to build it myself, but there are many inexpensive options that work very well for small products, and I decided to invest in one of them. It is a cube made of plastic material with one side free. It has a top opening - where the LED light ring is located - and from which you can take the zenithal photographs. On the inside it has tabs on which you can attach the different fabric backgrounds that are included. The best thing is the lighting control knob: you can choose the intensity and type of light (cold, warm or natural, which is a mixture of both). How grateful I was for the arrival of this device in my workshop! It inspired me a lot in the type of photography I was doing until then.
Before, I would just photograph my books framed and centred in the image, leaving a border around it, mostly to fit the format of the publications. Except when I took a photograph of the details of the book, all the others had the same structure. From that moment on, I started to add decorative elements that coordinated or contrasted with the product to be photographed, I rotated them in the shot, I captured them from different angles,.... It was a change that embellished my work in front of the public.
Los trabajos tenían un valor añadido, gracias al tipo de fotografía que estaba intentando realizar. Me gustaba jugar con los colores, los contrastes, aprovechar esa magnífica luz que conseguía con la caja. Esto me permitía además hacer publicaciones más creativas y acordes con las tendencias actuales. Jugar, por ejemplo, con los post publicados a lo largo de tres días (como en "preparado, listo, miAu!) le daba una continuidad y características propias al perfil de la marca. Aunque la carga de trabajo cada vez se hacía más dura: este tipo de entradas generaba más movimiento y respuesta entre los seguidores, había más interacción, muchos comentarios y mensajes privados que responder a los que no podías desatender. La verdad que era el mejor indicativo que estaba mejorando en mi trabajo. Aunque todavía queda mucho por hacer, ¡seguimos aprendiendo!
The works had an added value, thanks to the type of photography I was trying to do. I liked playing with colours, contrasts, taking advantage of the magnificent light I was getting from the box. This also allowed me to make more creative publications in line with current trends. Playing, for example, with the posts published over three days (as in "ready, set, miAu!") gave continuity and its own characteristics to the brand's profile. Although the workload was getting harder and harder: this type of posts generated more movement and response among the followers, there was more interaction, many comments and private messages to reply to which you couldn't ignore. It was really the best indication that I was getting better at my job. Although there is still a lot to do, we are still learning!
