Por lo que he podido averiguar, mayo es el protagonista, aunque se reparten a lo largo de todo el año. Aquí en España es el primer domingo de mayo, al igual que en países como Angola, Hungría, Portugal o Sudáfrica. Mucho más famoso es el segundo domingo de este mismo mes, en naciones como Alemania, Canadá, Brasil, Colombia, Turquía o Venezuela (son muchísimos más). Hay bastantes fechas en este mismo mes, y algunas otras en febrero, marzo o diciembre. En fin, que como yo lo tengo a la vuelta de la esquina, os voy a mostrar una tarjeta muy especial totalmente personalizada que preparé para esta celebración y que os puede inspirar como regalo para vuestra mami.

All over the world we have a day dedicated to mum, although not all countries have decided to choose the same one. As far as I have been able to find out, May is the main one, although they are spread throughout the year. Here in Spain it is the first Sunday in May, as it is in countries like Angola, Hungary, Portugal or South Africa. Much more famous is the second Sunday of the same month in countries such as Germany, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Turkey and Venezuela (there are many more). There are quite a few dates in this same month, and some others in February, March or December. Anyway, as I have it just around the corner, I am going to show you a very special and totally personalised card that I prepared for this celebration and that may inspire you as a gift for your mummy.
La estructura es muy sencilla (aunque al final puede resultar algo laboriosa) y con paciencia y cuidado se puede conseguir un efecto muy alegre. Fundamentalmente es una tarjeta cuadrada (obtenida de un rectángulo doblado por la mitad), al que se le han troquelado las esquinas para suavizarlas.
The structure is very simple (although it can be a bit laborious in the end) and with patience and care a very cheerful effect can be achieved. It is basically a square card (obtained from a rectangle folded in half), the corners of which have been die-cut to soften them.

El espacio de la ventana ha sido ocupado por un "shaker" lleno de lentejuelas, de modo que cuando agitas la tarjeta, todas ellas se mueven y brillan, lo que resulta muy divertido. Como necesitas una doble "pared" transparente que sujete estos elementos, en el interior hemos pegado una segunda capa de papel, que oculta la estructura del shaker y le da más cuerpo a la tarjeta.
In the centre, a large circle has been punched out, which will act as a window to see inside and discover the photograph that will be glued on later. The window space has been filled with a "shaker" full of sequins, so that when you shake the card, they all move and sparkle, which is great fun. As you need a double transparent "wall" to hold these elements, we have glued a second layer of paper on the inside, which hides the structure of the shaker and gives the card more body.
Para que no tenga problemas a la hora de situar la fotografía el cliente, preparé con papel vegetal un marco que queda justo centrado en la ventana, y sujeto con unas esquineras, por lo que si no dispone de un adhesivo especial para fotos, puede fijarla fácilmente.
To make it easier for the customer to place the photo, I prepared a frame with tracing paper that is right in the centre of the window and fixed with corner pieces, so that if you don't have a special adhesive for photos, you can easily fix it in place.
Para la portada, la palabra "mamá" en minúsculas se ha recortado con un plotter de corte en papel blanco perlado, que coordina con la decoración de toda la colección de tarjetas, unificando el conjunto. Y abrazando el canto, una preciosa cola de ratón, de la que cuelgan unas bolas de madera coloreadas cubiertas de un barniz brillante.
For the cover, the word "mum" in lower case has been cut out with a cutting plotter on pearly white paper, which coordinates with the decoration of the entire collection of cards, unifying the whole. And hugging the edge is a beautiful mouse tail, from which hang coloured wooden balls covered in glossy varnish.

I delivered them in an eye-catching envelope, from which the two mouse-tailed ends of each card protruded, and from which the beads dangled. They were made of thick, rough paper, and lined inside with patterned paper to match the overall design.

I glued some smaller balls decorating the cover, matching the big ones that were hanging, and framing the window, a strawberry tree ribbon finished off the paper cut.

Me gustaría destacar la cohesión que existe en todo el conjunto, aunque no haya dos tarjetas iguales, en todas se repite la misma estructura y el mismo juego de contrastes de texturas y colores:
- El acabado en brillo: en las lentejuelas, las bolas barnizadas, la cola de ratón y el perlado de las letras.
- En mate: en el papel decorado, el papel vegetal y el del sobre, y el tejido del madroño.
- La gama de colores se repite -alternándose de una a otra- en todos los trabajos: turquesa, rosa, naranja, amarillo.
- El entintado de todos los cantos de la tarjeta está realizado con un turquesa de aspecto empolvado, que unifica toda la colección.
- La mezcla de rústico (madera, madroños) y glamuroso (los acabados brillantes, las lentejuelas).

As always, even the back of any miAu! work is stamped with its peculiar seal, which reminds us that it is an artisan work, made entirely by hand.
I would like to highlight the cohesion that exists throughout the set, although no two cards are the same, they all repeat the same structure and the same set of contrasts of textures and colours:
- The glossy finish: in the sequins, the varnished balls, the mouse glue and the pearlescent lettering.
- Matte: on the decorated paper, the tracing paper and the paper of the envelope, and the fabric of the strawberry tree.
- The range of colours is repeated - alternating from one to another - in all the works: turquoise, pink, orange, yellow.
- The inking on all the edges of the card is done in a powdery-looking turquoise, which unifies the whole collection.
- The mix of rustic (wood, arbutus) and glamorous (shiny finishes, sequins).Did you know that my mum has hers, do you want to see it?
