Este majestuoso río inicia su recorrido en la cierra de Turimiquire , atravesando la ciudad de Cumaná-Venezuela hasta desembocar en el golfo de Cariaco, en el mar caribe. Es un referente histórico, ya que hace muchos años constituía la fuente de agua dulce mas cercana a Nueva Cádiz (Isla Cubagua) y esto derivó el primer asentamiento estable de Europeos en el Continente Americano.
This majestic river begins its journey in the Turimiquire closes, crossing the city of Cumaná-Venezuela until it empties into the Gulf of Cariaco, in the Caribbean Sea.
